April 23, 201511 yr I will soon have to apply to the British Embassy in Bangkok for a proof of income letter Unfortunately my Pension letters etc have not yet arrived from the UK and as with previous mail may never come Will the Embassy accept prints of emailed copies from my Pension provider or does it have to be originals
April 23, 201511 yr The instruction here for getting the letter does not mention that originals are needed. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/423129/Pension_10_02_15__Master.pdf I can also recall reports of them not requiring originals.
April 23, 201511 yr Because of the timescale my permission to stay (retirement) is due on 28th April whilst my updated pension letters for the April increase do not arrive until some weeks later, I always use the previous years letter for the embassy and it has never been a problem, renewed my permission to stay this week without a problem having obtained the embassy letter prior to songran! Interestingly as our state pension is frozen and we don't get an annual letter I have to use the original letter from 2010 and it's always accepted! I actually only submit copies of my pension letters and retain the originals.
April 23, 201511 yr Copies suffice i get my statements via e-mail and print off same. Edited April 23, 201511 yr by Brit_Doggie

May 11, 201511 yr I have just been informed that you can no longer call at the British Embassy for the income letter and it has to be done by post. Has anyone obtained an income letter this pas month by calling in person?

I usually renew my extension around the end of July and I always ring all my pension providers during the first week of May and ask them fo a new letter detailing the GROSS income and it usually takes about 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. That includes the state pension letter and theirs is usually the first to arrive. Edited May 11, 201511 yr by billd766
