JAKARTA, April 24 (Xinhua) -- The Asian-African Summit 2015 adopted a declaration on Palestine, which reaffirmed full support of the just struggle of the Palestinian people to regain their right to self-determination.

The document said that leaders to the summit remained committed to the principles of self-determination as set forth in the Final Communique of the Bandung Conference in 1955, and in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.

"We deplore the fact that sixty years since the Bandung Conference, the Palestinian people remain deprived of their rights, freedom and independence, and that millions of Palestinians are still living under occupation and as refugees," read the declaration.

The leaders of Asian and African countries reaffirmed their " full support of the just struggle of the Palestinian people to regain their inalienable right to self-determination, including the realization of the sovereignty and independence of their State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital."

What a surprise, the Asian-African Summit of Hypocrites ignores all their own human rights problems.

So should we ignore any resolutions from a G7 summit?

Nope. Whether you like it or not, the G7 countries are the world's economic engine. From these countries flow much of the aid monies that fund projects like TB and malaria control in Thailand. Much of the success in controlling the ravages of HIV in Asia and Africa come courtesy of G7 countries. You know all those Africa and Arab migrants that keep drowning off the coast of Italy? Well, they are trying to make their way to the G7 countries. They aren't headed to China. It would be easier for them to make a run to bastions of freedom like Pakistan or Tunisia or Algeria, but for some strange reason, these participants at the African-Asia summit have done their utmost to keep them out, killing and exploiting them.

For some strange reason, the meeting which was underwritten in large part by China:

- Did not discuss the protection of human rights in the participating Asian and African nations

- Did not address plight of the muslim Rohingya refugees who are exploited and abused by Bangladesh, and Myanmar and others

- Did not make any reference to Chinese expansionism in the region

- Did not take up the issue of the ongoing infectious disease outbreaks and the resurgence of HIV in the region and how the growing incidence of malaria, TB and other diseases are negatively impacting development in the region

- Did not make any statement in the support of free elections or an end to sectarian strife which has caused turmoil in much of Africa

- Made no mention of the slaughter of immigrants in South Africa

- Offered nothing constructive in respect to jihadist insurgencies in participant countries.

And yet they found time to offer "moral" support to Palestinian arabs. I don't know what they accomplished during their extended stay at the luxury Hyatt in Jakarta. Nice to know that bankrupt countries like Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone and others were able to find the money to send delegates on a junket, while people back home starved.

Meanwhile, the non Asian /non African countries were busy providing billions of $/Euros to fund the health programs and economic development of the participating countries.

Well said!

And the Palestinians should get their own territory back.

You are missing the point; if you seek to disqualify resolutions made by countries simply because of their human rights abuses, then the G7 resolutions would also fall into that category given the members histories of human rights abuses. Now I don't want to get into "whose abuses were/are worse", but the fact remains that from the US to Japan, one could easily list abuses that those countries have committed both in the past and in the present.

They should have included Thailand in a similar declaration.

The Palestinians need to stop the terrorist attacks and sign a peace treaty. If they had tried peaceful means to resolve their problems 67 years ago, they would have had their own country long ago and possibly be thriving like Israel is.

When, where ever did they have their own country?

When, where ever did they thrive?

A pleasing bullsh*t is still bullsh*t...

Be truthful, stop trying to please whoever it is you are trying to please.

The Palestinians NEVER had their own country, but if they had accepted the UN deal in 1948 and worked at improvements, instead of armed conflict, they MIGHT have a thriving country by now. That is what Israel did and it worked for them.

The Jews were expelled from Roman Judea in 132 AD and the province became Syria Palestina in 135 AD.

Until 1878 when a group of Zionists established an agricultural settlement, are there any historical references to the Jews in Palestine?

Nonsense. There has been a continuous presence of Jews in Palestine for over 3,000 years.

Even after the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem and the beginning of the exile, Jewish life in Palestine continued and often flourished. Large communities were reestablished in Jerusalem and Tiberias by the ninth century. In the 11th century, Jewish communities grew in Rafah, Gaza, Ashkelon, Jaffa and Caesarea.

Many Jews were massacred by the Crusaders during the 12th century, but the community rebounded in the next two centuries as large numbers of rabbis and Jewish pilgrims immigrated to Jerusalem and the Galilee. Prominent rabbis established communities in Safed, Jerusalem and elsewhere during the next 300 years. By the early 19th century-years before the birth of the modern Zionist movement-more than 10,000 Jews lived throughout what is today Israel.

10,000 Jews in Ottoman Palestine... really?

How many Palestinians were there at that time?

I doubt if they mind. Before modern Israel was formed in 1948, the Jews in the area were called "Palestinians" after the ancient kingdom. The Arabs were called "Arabs" , because that is what they were.

What source claims that the Jews were called Palestinians?

Jews are always called Jews.

What source claims that the Jews were called Palestinians?

It is hardly a secret. it is a well-known fact.

Under the Ottoman Empire (1517-1917), the term Palestine was used as a general term to describe the land south of Syria; it was not an official designation. In fact, many Ottomans and Arabs who lived in Palestine during this time period referred to the area as "Southern Syria" and not as "Palestine."

After World War I, the name "Palestine" was applied to the territory that was placed under British Mandate; this area included not only present-day Israel but also present-day Jordan.

Leading up to Israel's independence in 1948, it was common for the international press to label Jews, not Arabs, living in the mandate as Palestinians. It was not until years after Israeli independence that the Arabs living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip were called Palestinians. In fact, Arabs cannot even correctly pronounce the word Palestine in their native tongue, referring to area rather as“Filastin.”
