Pot headse that get arreted in the USA or Canada get a criminl record. If you have a criminal record you will be denied entry.... pretty simple

Have I got this right? You get arrested and charged but not found guilty, not sentenced, not convicted, and you get a criminal record, are denied entry into a foreign country such as Thailand?

Very interesting.

Australia shares information with foreign countries especially of people suspected of drug offences. They keep the arrest record etc on file and will share that with another country and if it involves drugs the other country can refuse or as in the case of Indonesia arrest and sentance to death (well they got all the info from them about the drugs they were taking to Australia from Australia). Not that I am trying to say that your case is in the same catagory but info can be shared without a conviction.

Did the OP try to get a Visa at a Thai embassy in the US?

Wouldn't that be the place to start?

It does no good to apply for a visa because embassies and consulates do not have access to the blacklist to check to see if somebody is on it.

I guess something was lost in the translation here for me

An arrest for 2 grams of pot with no conviction doesn't seem likely to have made it to Thai immigration computers

Is the OP leaving out some other details?

It sounds like from what I read the OP wasn't able to travel freely without correcting something in the US,

Not trying to say he isn't being forthcoming, but there is people I know from the US with all kinds of convictions traveling in and out of Thailand

Two grams?/barred from entry?

How was it when you entered the US with thise outstanding issues?

One quick way though is to apply for the Elite Card. They run a blacklist check before they accept an application. That way you just change your mind about buying it.

Since it was the queens birthday I couldn't access my account for quick Payment. Payoff. So I had to go to the monkey house for 4 days. This is what caused it to go to paper. Otherwise I would not have had this problem.

You do not need to be in Thailand, to secure u.s.a. citizenship for yr daughter. It would be easier if u were here, but you can do it by email.

no u cant , it MUST be done in person but very easy

get ur report of birth Abroad and that's it

with that u get a passport

been there done that and i wasn't married as well. :-)

Yes I am the legal father, on birth certificate and all.

that does NOT make u the legal father, you need to go to family court and get them to issue you the paper since ur not married.

would also apply for sole custody while ur at it,

you NEED a LAWYER!!!!

thanks for clearing that up because I wasn't really understanding it

it seems a pretty harsh penalty to not let you back in

I would have to think that you are now on at least one more list for trying to get in did they make any indication on your passport?

You don't need a lawyer and you don't need to be present. If you are not present the mother will have to be present. Not being married will be an extra form to fill out. I gather that the child is more than 2 years old. If so, you can fill the forms with gibberish,( well almost, but don't worry about "proving" anything ) because a DNA test will be MANDATORY. You will have to send away to the u.s.a. to a certified testing company. Prices do vary so call around. The embassy will receive 3 kits, 2 sent to mother and daughter, one to you (no matter what country you are in). You take the test, the results are given back to the embassy (embassies) . You can acquire citizenship for her ( Consular Report of Birth Abroad), but you do not need to get a u.s.a. passport ( an extra $165). the passport will expire in 5 years anyway, so if she isn't planning to travel during that time, it's pointless.

Why you don't need a lawyer. The embassy will give you a checklist. You return each item on the list in the same order. If you speak native English you're more than qualified than any Thai lawyer.

This is wrong on so many points.

HUH:

how can a non us citizen apply for a report of birth abroad NOTARIZED statement from the us embassy??

of course the US citizen MUST be present.

The can ask for a dna test but it is NOT mandatory.

Usual what anyone would do is;

document the mother thru pregnancy, with photos, show an established relationship

have 2 friends accompany you to the embassy to say they know its ur kid

your name on the BC

you passport showing u were in country when the child was conceived and there with ur gf

Like i said Been there done it

Yeah it is a huge but not impossible challenge. My little girl is being protected and looked after by Thai and expats.

I and others are helping financially. She is a resilient and I'm going to be able to fix this. Cheers

One for the experts:

Can the mother give written permission for the child to travel out the country with someone else other than the parents ?

Is that possible ?

Check the Law firm that is Heavily Advertised here on this site. I can't refer you to anyone. but the good reputable firms are easy to find and quite "out there" to easiy see and find.

I and several expats I know have used them and are more than satisfied.

It is worth it if you can't get results yourself quickly or in good time.

Common Expat problems, such as yours are normal everyday procedures for these Law Firms.

Best of Luck

Malasia sounds the answer. Let your wife come down with the child to KL and do the needed there.

An overnight train trip or a flight. I may suggest the train may be easier.

I was deported back to America for an old warrant I had. Even though I resolved the issue there since I was deported Thailand blacklists automatically. Therefore, until the 99 year law changes I'll be working on establishing myself in the region and do my daughter's paperwork with the embassies in KL and Bangkok.

Thank you all for your input. I'm sorry for getting emotional. But at least I found out where I stand. Cheers Mates, God speed to all. DH

OP Most likely Mario is correct, meaning things might be fixable. You need to get your documents from the USA that everything was resolved. Once you have those documents you do need to work with a lawyer in Thailand to submit an appeal to be removed from the blacklist. Wish you all the best, good Luck!!

State Department has. As do I have proof of full pardon. I'll dig a little deeper.

Who granted this "Full Pardon" ?
