Tilleke and Gibbins are a very large, very respected and very old Thai law firm. They specialise in commercial law and do not do criminal law. They also charge about USD 800 an hour to consult.

Most embassy's websites have a list of lawyer that are reputable and can be trusted.

Only a governor or the president of the united States can grant an actual pardon.

Perhaps there was another term, ie., dismissed, found not guilty, etc., but in order to have a warrant served and enforced from the USA it would seem this was a bit more than your simple bench warrant

Were you out on bail, and then fled the country?

You do know that Thailand is very specific now about attracting "quality" tourists

Here you have smoked the evil weed, and soiled their women.... Hardly a man of high distinction although, quite the school yard hero....

I think best bet, is when mom leaves jail, for her to visit you in a friendly country along the border and work it from there

I fear that going through the normal legal channels are going to milk you dry and the system can fail you

I say, stay true to form and find the other ways. The hell with the "right" way,

Get it done, any way, and the end justified the means

You don't need a lawyer and you don't need to be present. If you are not present the mother will have to be present. Not being married will be an extra form to fill out. I gather that the child is more than 2 years old. If so, you can fill the forms with gibberish,( well almost, but don't worry about "proving" anything ) because a DNA test will be MANDATORY. You will have to send away to the u.s.a. to a certified testing company. Prices do vary so call around. The embassy will receive 3 kits, 2 sent to mother and daughter, one to you (no matter what country you are in). You take the test, the results are given back to the embassy (embassies) . You can acquire citizenship for her ( Consular Report of Birth Abroad), but you do not need to get a u.s.a. passport ( an extra $165). the passport will expire in 5 years anyway, so if she isn't planning to travel during that time, it's pointless.

Why you don't need a lawyer. The embassy will give you a checklist. You return each item on the list in the same order. If you speak native English you'r at more than qualified than any Thai lawyer.

In my recent experience with CRBA and the DNA testing process, at USA embassy in Bangkok...

I have just completed this out of wedlock Consular Report of Birth Abroad Process at USA Bangkok embassy

NO THAI LAWYERS INVOLVED

Both Mother and Father and child are required to be at the original CRBA interview in Bangkok.

Out of wedlock births after a certain age of the child DO require a DNA test even if they not explain this on any of the instructions before hand it just states in some cases DNA test may be required.

UP TO THE INTERVIEWER I guess,

I did read the actual DNA test itself can be done with Child in Thailand at embassy and USA parent in USA. So this may be an option for you.

Getting married LEGALLY in Thailand will stop this whole DNA process and save you LOADS OF CASH...good luck

Total expense to me for Embassy CRBA paper, his 5 year Passport,SS number,DNA Test kits, thai Doctor fee,Travel expenses hotel airfares from Phuket to BKK for 3 each time, booze and food and 6 months of dicking around cost me about 50K thai baht...I even got a motorized copy of the DNA Lab Results showing me as 99.999% as the father may be useful for something in the future who knows??

Now all completed he is a Thai and a USA citizen and im a happy camper.

For the moment lol

I DISAGREE TOTALLY,

with the above poster who said to NOT GET YOUR CHILD A PASSPORT during this process,

so what if its only valid for 5 years, That passport in your child's pocket will be his ticket out of Thailand if the pooop hits the fan GET THAT PASSPORT MATE while you can..

It will make life much easier for you and your family in case of emergency in the future for sure.

I ended up with my son getting his New USA Passport,The Notarized report of birth certificate from USA embassy, this is only document recognized in USA as his official birth certificate in Thailand and we applied for his USA Social security number to be issued in 3 months.

GET ALL THESE DOCUMENTS while you can, Is my best advise to you.

Just in case you are not around the child will have many more options in life with Thai and USA passport.

if required at least the child will have all he needs to come and go as he pleases .....my thoughts anyways.

WE Arrived on scheduled at USA embassy in Bkk

appointment online is required.to register his birth CRBA

to start the whole USA citizenship process.for my 3 year old boy,

Thats when the B@tch behind the glass doing the interview informs you at the end of an otherwise enjoyable interview, that since the child born out of wedlock DNA test of USA parent is required. Can not just go to International Hospital down the road. You have to use a DNA testing lab from USA. For us it was 650 USD for two DNA kits Fed Ex to embassy from USA.(no need to test the mother and father just need test the USA citizen and child this will save you money for unnecessary extra test kit and doctor fee)

JUST A BIG MONEY GRAB FOR ALL INVOLVED.

Then the actual DNA test takes place at USA embassy in Bangkok on any given THURSDAYS ONLY upon the embassy's convenience with a date. Then the day of the DNA test in the morning you have to go to BNA Hospital near embassy in Bangkok to pay THAI DOCTOR FEE of 8000 baht for two tests. Then in the afternoon you go to BKK embassy and they do the test in the lobby NO PRIVATE ROOM for 8000 baht grrr test takes about 15 minutes per person very easy. The 650 USD DNA test kit is 4 Q Tips in a re-seal able plastic bag.....What a <deleted> joke...

The results were back in less than 7 days from USA and passport with completed CRBA certificate as well

Ready for pick up a week later.

all political red tape...but over with now thank goodness

But in the end all said and done feels good to have my son sorted to give him more options in life the same as I had growing up in USA and Thailand...

Good luck with your troubles

hope all turns out the best for you

cheers

good job,

thank god i went thru all this back in 95.

piece of cake back than in Phuket

GET that us passport and thai passport do not put it off

PS its a 5 years us passport till the child is 18 and up to than u need both parents to sign or an affidavit from one

OR go to family court (what i did) and get sole custody

The ONLY reason i recommend the lawyer is his trouble with getting into Thailand NOT for the child which needs no lawyer ( and would probably <deleted> things up anyway) LOL

Thanks, I'm working on getting the release forms so daughter can get thai pp, and allow someone to bring her to me kl. Also all the embassy docs are somewhere in her possession. Which will have to be signed and notarized.

Did it about 6 months ago. I never made an appearance (Manila). That might have been because we were (at the time of conception) and are (presently) married

Out of wedlock births after a certain age of the child DO require a DNA test even if they not explain this on any of the instructions before hand it just states in some cases DNA test may be required.

UP TO THE INTERVIEWER I guess,

I was told DNA tests are mandatory, married or not, child age > 2 years. This does not have to be written down in the instructions to be the de facto policy.

I did read the actual DNA test itself can be done with Child in Thailand at embassy and USA parent in USA. So this may be an option for you.

I don't think getting married will have any effect on whether a DNA test is required or not. As stated below the u.s.a clinic is making a good $700- $1000, and the foreign doctor is not complaining either. If you show up with a one month old baby, birth certificates, and marriage certificates, maybe not. Then again, even in america, babies are stolen and abducted.
