Visa Question

Featured Replies

I am a British national and I am leaving my job in the next couple of weeks. My plan was to do a border run the day AFTER my visa is cancelled. I thought, by doing this, I could pay the 500B day overstay rather than the 1900B extension (to leave the country). I was then going to go to Laos as I found a service which offered a 'same day' service whereby you're taken to the border and back to Bangkok the same day. What is the maximum tourist visa I can get with this type of arrangment? Have asked around but not got any answers yet. Secondly, leaving Thailand the day after my visa expires, has anyone ever done this before and if so have you encountered or heard about any problems doing that. Lastly can anyone recommend a visa run service?

By crossing the border and returning you will get a stay of 30 days.

Apply at a consulate in Laos and get a one or two entry Tourist Visa.

This will need an overnight stay.

Don't forget the 1,500 Baht fee for the Laos Visa.

Good luck with this non-existent "service" ! smile.png

Enjoy the 30 day "visa exempt entry "

Thanks Lite. Do you or anyone reading this know about if I left the day after my visa was cancelled if I'd be subject to a 500B overstay. I'm kind of wondering if saving 1200B is worth the risk.

The company I have found , as mentioned, offer a same day service so this would negate a Laos visa (I think?) and obviously the over night stay.

500 baht per day you overstay.

Same day service means it is a border run, leaving and re-entering the country. For that you must enter another country and pay the appropriate fee to enter that country.

If you went to immigration a day or two before the date your job ends immigration would post date the cancellation. No need to worry about an overstay that way,

A representative from my company is insisting they come with me to immigration. But that would've been a good solution.

Pay a fee to enter Laos to leave again the same day?

You have to get a Lao visa on arrival that costs $35 or 1500 baht. It does not matter if you enter and stay the entire 30 days or stay for few minutes.

Why can't they go with you a day or 2 early?

Its probably worth asking. That said I am getting some vague replies about how long it will take to process my visa and WP with my new job. Have asked if 30 days will be enough and got an ambiguous reply. So...can anyone recommend trips for a 60 day visa (with overnight)? Have used Sawasdee Travel before and that cost about 6,000 baht inc stay. Anyone got any other recommendations? Thanks

You can get a 30 day extension of your 30 day entry at immigration for a fee of 1900 baht.

For a visa run you could check. http://www.thaivisaservice.com
