Phuket police have issued arrest warrants for five men suspected in aiding in the Koh Samui car-bombing that occurred earlier in the month. While the five men are not yet being charged for any crimes, they are being sought under the Emergency Decree.

There are already 3 other suspects in military custody.

Initial police reports state that the five men, Asmin Katemmadee, Abdulloh Samae, Hakeen Dohloh, Ammar Waedaramae and Muhammadyakee Samae purchased vehicles that were used in the bombing on April 10th.

Footage from a nearby surveillance camera led police on an investigation to find a Honda Civic that took part in the attack. Police have found the vehicle in the Phatthalung province. There was also a brown sedan that was linked to the attack that the police found.

The vehicles contained clues to the bombing as well as fingerprints linking assailants to the crime. The police did not report if the fingerprints were those of any of the 5 suspects currently being sought.

Police have traced the Honda Civic’s registered license plates to a woman living in Phatthalung. The assailants placed Bangkok license plates on the vehicle during the time of the bombing. The registrants of both license plates are being questioned by the authorities.

What about the ring leaders, the senior officials they tipped off as to being linked? Fair enough to round up a few numbnuts who were probably paid to buy a few cars but what about the masterminds or have they already left the country after the public tip off?

News flash there was no politician involved. That was part of the saving face exercise, they could not and still can't acknowledge that this was the work of the terrorists. These terrorist have operated outside their traditional areas before (unlike the RTA implying that they have never operated outside the deep south), in December 2013 and car bomb was found in Phuket. At the time the protest was ongoing in BKK and it flew under the Thai news radar (wonder why). If they acknowledge that this was an southern terrorist attack then they acknowledge failure of section 44 and as that is the base of their power they can't do that.

It is not clear to me from the OP what the Phuket involvement is here. Why a Phuket arrest warrant?

I wondered about that one as well.

Probably worried about the local BIB's being a bit close to some of the suspects? whistling.gif

"I am putting out a warrant for your arrest but you are not being charged with any crime" ???? Does that make any sense? Maybe these warrants are for unnamed persons so no charge can be made as yet.

And these arrests are being done under an Emergency Decree? With martial law allegedly lifted, just what is a Emergency Decree? Is that the new and gentler name for invoking Article 44?
