Seems like the Udon Immigration office is the only office which delays the same-day stamping of visa extensions by 30 days, supposedly because the boss is not available. However, it's common knowledge that for a 1000 Baht 'fee' (no receipt issued), an applicant can receive the extension on the same day.

For people who live in the immediate Udon area, coming back in 30 days is not a problem. But for people who live further away or have travel plans, it might be easier to just pay and be done with the process.

To the best of my knowledge, this delay began toward the end of Aug 2014.

So here's the dilemma:

The fact that you CAN get your extension on the same day, for a non-receiptable fee, is blatant corruption. I realize T.I.T. and all that, but in today's atmosphere of anti-corruption, maybe one of the seasoned veterans of living here has an innovative way to attack this problem. In today's world of six degrees of separation, maybe one of the veterans knows someone who knows someone who knows someone in Immigration who can address this problem.

Serious replies would be appreciated.
