Which Type Of Visa?

Featured Replies

ive read through the forums and tried a search or two,but cant seem to find the right info.

age 25 irish citizen here.2 months ago i have moved to spain to live with parents for a while.

sometime in late november i am hoping to go to thailand to marry my thai girlfriend and bring back to spain with me.

my plan so far is to go to thailand for 3 months.get married around the end of the first month

leaving me 2 months to get her family permit and our flight to spain sorted out.

my questions are with this above situation in mind, wat type of visa shud i be applying for to visit thailand?

im concerned about the process of marriage and getting her family permit.

so can i get a 90 day non-immigrant visa and if i run into trouble can that be extended?

other thoughts of mine.

if i get married in the first month can i get a different type of visa easier.

if i want to stay 3 months plus another few weeks to be safe shud i just go with no visa as a tourist

leaving me 30 days to get a non-immigrant visa for 90 days after (which i think can then be extended)

also any sites on visa costs if anyone knows would be a great help to me.

im pretty new and clueless regarding visa's and flights etc.

Following on from Family Permit To Spain, regarding work.....

If you come to Thailand on a Tourist Visa Exemption, then you can only extend your stay for a very limited period (a few days). So, you would be forced to do visa runs. However, if you come on a tourist visa or a Non-Immigrant Visa then it may be possible to extend your stay in Thailand.

With regards to marriage, see Marriage Registration and GUIDANCE FOR IRISH NATIONALS WISHING TO MARRY IN THAILAND.

After marriage, see Requirements to apply for a visa to join a family member who is Spanish, a national an European Union country, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
