Vendors illegally occupy Pratamnak viewpoint roads

n4footpath-1.jpg

PATTAYA:--The road leading to the viewpoint atop Pratamnak Hill is narrow and twisty and street vendors are making it even more hazardous.

Without permits, vendors have parked their vehicles along the side of the four-meter-wide roads leading to the Naval Radio Station and Prince Chumphon monument. Making matters worse, they have set up tables on the sidewalk, leaving little room for either cars or pedestrians.

Reporters questioned the vendors, who acted entitled and fearless of prosecution. They said they’ve sold food and trinkets to tourists for years and police have either turned a blind eye or “arrangements” have been made allowing the legal activity.

The military has showed recently in Naklua that it won’t stand for private businesses to profit from using public streets and land. Reporters notified the Pattaya Complaint Centre and are waiting to see if authorities will make the trek up the hill to resolve the problem.

And what about vendors illegally occupying sidewalks either side along Pattaya Beach Rd ? forcing pedestrians into the road ? and selling illegal weapons and counterfeit goods ?

Vendors will spring-up anywhere they choose, regardless of law or public safety.

Vendors believe it's their god-given to right.

Policing in this matter is 98% non-existent.

Oh, I forgot, This Is Thailand.

It is laudable that vendors are bringing services and colour back to the streets of Thailand. The problems is that some TV members really would prefer a Starbucks and McDonald's on the see stretch of road. Good luck to these vendors I say. They are the heart and soul of the Asian street.

Wrong!

Policing the matter is 100%.

You think these vendors just set up on public property without paying the police?

These vendors would be gone in 5 minutes if they were not paying.
