This is in no way Thai bashing, or trolling. It is a simple yes/no question that you can vote on.

A Thai facebook friend put up a So Proud To be Thai photo and comment.

A Bangkok yellow-shirt teacher in her 60’s.

It made me think why?

I am not a nationalist, and in asking myself the same questions about my home country, the answer would be no, not really.

But, back to the question.

Would I be proud to be Thai?

I look at the judicial system. The police force. Social and political justices/injustices. What seem to be systematic human rights abuses. The education system. Hospitals and health care. Business practices and business culture. Society. The murder rate and death toll on the roads. How open society is to progression. The welfare and treatment of those at Thai’s mercy – The Rohingya etc. The religious system and its practices and of course the Unmentionable.

I put forward the above, of what one would or would not be proud of. This isn’t a Thai bashing post in any way. A simple question to which I don't give my answer.

PS. Pls respect other posters and the forum rules.
