Aran/Poipet visa run. has anything changed in 4 years ?

Recommended Posts

o.k. first off, i used to and still want to do this thing independently.

what i mean is that i am going to take one of the casino buses with Mrs TF from Bang na big C early in the morning and will probably stay a few days in the no mans land area.

i heard a while back that on return to Thailand you now get a 30 day visa, instead of 2 weeks, is this true ?

also you now have to stay at least one night in Cambodia before you return.

how much does it now cost for a Cambodian visa, i think it was in the region of about 800 - 1000 baht ( 20 dollars )

am i right in thinking that i still need a passport photo for the Cambodian part of the process ?

any other info would be most appreciated.

cheers TF.

If you get 15 days or 30 days depends on your nationality.

Nationals of the G7 countries get 30 days.

Unless attempting to obtain back to back visa exempt entries !

On your other questions: the Cambodian visa costs US$30, but more if you pay in baht.

Yes, you should have a photo, but can pay extra for the photo requirement to be waived.

There is no requirement to spend a night in Cambodia, but the Cambodian officials may try to claim there is in the hope of extracting money to waive this non requirement.

I went to Poipet yesterday to use the 2nd entry of a TR3 Visa, I used an agency however, because I don't like surprises. The procedure was quick and simple, I exited Thailand through the Thai Imm. office, after you see the IO you just go down some stairs and out the door and you're in Cambodia, it's sort of a no-mans land because you will not have been through Cambodian Imm. yet (if you do at all), but it is Cambodia. There's a bunch of Casino's there and outdoor stores together with people begging galore. Bit of a scrum to tell the truth. The first thing you should do is get your Cambodian Visa, not sure where it is because the agency people did it for me, but it will be around the area you are now in, take visa size photos with you. The cost is $30.00 US, and you must get it, there were Cambodian Military going around randomly looking at peoples passports. I stayed in a Casino for a couple of hours, and had a decent breakfast. After that I walked back into Thai Imm. and entered Thailand, so I was only out of the Country 2.5 hours. The one thing I would have forgotten is that the departure card is removed from your passport when leaving, there fore you will need to fill in a new one when entering Thai. Enjoy your trip and try not to lose any money in the Casino smile.png

BTW, the Cambodian Visa issuing office may even be on the Thai side of the border, I just don't know, maybe someone can comment.
