Looking for some advice , regarding getting a proper visa to stay in thailand.. for the past year ive been coming in and out using a 30 day exempt as working in africa and never here for more than 25 days at a time , but this time back , i recieved an e-mail from work telling me theyre cutting back and i no longer have a job.. i´ve had a 30 day extension already, which runs out on june 7th , but not sure what to do now, leave the country, but to where?? i have UK passport, but been living in denmark 16 years before coming to Thailand, but i have given up residency in both, so have no other home to go to...Is it possible to get a visa while staying here or do i have to leave the country?? and if i have to leave the country, how long would i need to stay away before being allowed back in again..any good advice will be much appreciated

Unless you are married to a Thai or are over 50 you will have to leave the country to obtain a visa. You will only qualify for a tourist visa. The easiest way is to go to either Savannaket or Vientiane and apply for a double entry tourist visa which will give you almost 180 days with one border run and two extensions.

The visa costs 2000 baht and the extensions are 1900 baht each. The cost of the border run depends on the location that you use.

You'll have to leave to get a visa.

You'll need to qualify for any visa other than a tourist visa.

As said .

Unless married or over 50 there are very few options.

Finding a job may be another possible way forward but ensure that you take very good advice before doing so !

1) You can extend your visa exempt for another 30 days at immigration for 1900THB

2) If you want to stay here longer, you might consider a tourist visa, that can be obtained outside the country.Laos being the closest, you could go to the Thai Embassy in Vientiane or Consulate in Savannakhet and apply for a tourist visa there.

3) No minimum days outside the country required.
