What am I paying for?

Featured Replies

Ok so I am 30 years old living in Thailand and currently on a ED VISA.

I recently married my Thai wife. I have 400k Baht in a Thai bank.

I want to switch my Visa to a non immigrant o so I can get a 1 year visa based on marriage.

I went to a few visa agency companies and they quoted me 25k baht to do the marriage paperwork for me.

What are they doing for this price? Doesn't it seem a little expensive? How hard is it to do this myself?

Thanks guys

Not difficult to do yourself !

Is this duplicate posting?

Seems I have read something very similar from the OP recently .

Check with your local immigration office if they will give you a one-year extension of stay for living with your Thai wife. They probably will not, in which case you go to a Thai consulate and get a single-entry non-O visa to visit your Thai wife, return to Thailand and apply for your one-year marriage extension.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

"What are they doing for this price?" They are not doing anything the average person couldn't do himself. Unless you are very busy and just don't have the time to do it yourself. You may have to go the route suggested by poster Maestro.

OP, I have done it a half dozen times myself. You can do it yourself too, no need to pay for some visa agency.

Don't pay 25 k for some agency.

Restart with a Non O visa as described and go the extension based on marriage route (some paperwork but doable).

You have the financials, so no need for a dodgy agency to be involved.

The 25 k route is a "special method" for those who do not have the financials.

@flyingsaucersarereal: it is not useful to start two threads on the same topic.

Better put all/add all information to ONE thread:
