Non "O" Visa

Featured Replies

Hi there, what is Non Immigrant 'O' Visa and is this the visa if you are married to a Thai..Can a person above 50 years old apply for this Visa instead of the Retirement Visa. What are the requirements for this Non-"O" visa...thanks.

You can get a single or multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage from a embassy or consulate. Being over 50 will not stop you from getting it.

What is needed to apply for the visa depends upon where you apply for it. Normally just your marriage certificate, and copies of you wife house book and ID card. At some a copy of here passport photo page is needed.

1. A Non-'O' visa is for people that are entering Thailand for reasons other than tourism.

2. Yes. This is the visa needed if applying on the basis of being married to a Thai.

3. Yes. You can apply for a Non-'O' based either on marriage or retirement if over 50.

4. If applying for a Non-'O' based on marriage the basic requirements are straightforward. Marriage certificate (copy and original). Copies of your wife's ID and House Book signed by her.

Which embassy/consulate will you be applying at?

Thanks elviajero, a friend of mine was cautioned by the Chiangmai immigration because of too many entries and to have a visa for next entry..His last arrival to Chiangmai was given only 7 days instead of usual 30 days visa-exempt stay...He is no visa-runner

always have confirmed R/T tickets and funds. Stays in CNX for 20+ days returns to Sinagapore for 40+ days and flies to CNX again. Been doing this for the past many years...He is not married to any Thai but staying with g/f in a house of their own.

He is over 50 and I presume he can apply for Non-'O' visa instead of a retirement visa O-A.

He will be applying at the thai embassy in Singapore....But the SIN website only states Non 'O' ( marriage visa ) and retirement visa O-A.

The embassy will only do the OA visa if he is citizen or resident of Singapore.

The only place he would get a multiple entry non-o in the region might be in Penang but he would have to show the same financial proof needed for an extension of stay.

If he can put 800k baht in a Tahi bank or show proof of an income of 65k baht by way of a letter from his embassy or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht he could get a single entry non-o visa in Vientiane or Penang and then apply for an extension of stay based upon retirement at immigration during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry he will get from the visa. He could get a re-entry permit (single 1000 baht or multiple 3800 baht) for the 90 day entry for his trips back to Singapore to keep that entry valid. The after he gets the extension he could get a multiple re-entry permit for his trips.
