Are there any recent reports of airport immigration requiring a letter from the company stating that employment was terminated if someone with a visa extension leaves the country before the end date of the extension without a re-entry permit?

My understanding is that posters have reported this only immigration at Nong Khai and Mukdahan overland crossings, and airport immigration will let you go on your way. Still, I wanted to make sure there was no new information.

Everything else is on the up and up (cooperative employer, resignation for the day I'm leaving so no overstay, and no work permit cancellation issues). I am just curious if I need to trouble my employers for any official paperwork to get out of the country. (Or, more importantly, remember to have it accessible at 3 a.m. when I go through customs.) I'm not coming back anytime soon, so I'm not worried about any other logistics.
