Featured Replies

Preah Sihanouk provincial police nabbed a suspected drug trafficker with 6 kilograms of marijuana on Monday evening.

Deputy provincial police chief San Bunthorn said the suspect, Sang Vutha, 22, was a fisherman from Koh Kong and had moved to Preah Sihanouk temporarily.

“During the questioning, the suspect said the marijuana belonged to him, and that it was planted secretly in a field in Koh Kong province last year,” he said.

“[The suspect] kept it for personal use, and sold some to foreigners for around $40 for every 100 grams.”

During the search on Monday, police confiscated a bike, a mobile phone a wallet and 95,000 riel (less than $24) along with the weed, Bunthorn said.

The suspect, along with the evidence, was sent to the provincial court on charges of possession and storage of illegal drugs, in accordance with Article 48 of the Kingdom’s Narcotics Law, Bunthorn said.

If convicted, the suspect could face up to five years in prison.

Last week, police in Preah Sihanouk province busted a beachside marijuana dealer caught with 70 grams on his person.
