Man busted over nude photo posts

Featured Replies

A self-styled “Facebook star” was arrested on Tuesday by the Ministry of Interior’s Internal Security Police Department over allegations he posted pornographic images and videos to his personal account, according to a high-ranking police official.

Chun Sochetr, 24, was the first arrest made out of several young suspects who are being investigated for allegedly posting numerous pornographic images of women via Facebook, said Lieutenant General Chhay Sinarith of the National Police.

“Their activities have seriously affected Cambodian tradition and culture – especially women’s dignity,” he said yesterday.

According to Leang Sok, a police officer involved in the case, the suspect confessed to his crime during interrogation.

“He said he posted naked photos and sexual videos because he wanted to attract more visitors and make his website rank higher and become famous,” Sok said.

If found guilty, Sochetr will face up to a month in jail and a fine of between 100,000 and 200,000 riel (about $25 to $50).

Sochetr could not be reached for comment.
