UK Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any experience with obtaining a Uk tourist visa either from the Thai Embassy in London or sending off their passport in the post with the application form?

I'm heading out to Thailand on the 13th of Aug but I need my passport for a weekend on the 20th of June to get to Germany. I'm reluctant to send my passport off now incase its not back before 20th June.

I'm then concerned, waiting until 20th of June is cutting it fine for Aug 13th.

My other option is going to London but I work and would have to go over a weekend. I've seen that it takes 24 hours so i would need a place to stay adn logistics are becoming confusing.

Many Thanks

Jake

Not a tourist visa but a multi entry o visa which is perhaps a little more complex took 4 days from posting to return in November Only bugbear was that they only accept postal orders. Of course you can also visit the various consulates in the UK for a tourist visa if that is more convenient.

Posted from my phone using predictive text, please excuse any spelling or grammatical errors.

Four or 5 days is about normal to get a visa by post from the embassy. June is is to early to apply for your visa if you are getting one with more than one entry because the validity starts from the date of issue.

Info on applying is here: :http://www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/4

To maximize the visa validity where the visa validity starts on the date of issue, a good rule of thumb is to allow 10 WORKING DAYS for the visa to be issued and the passport returned by post. Also make careful note of both UK and Thai national holidays (non-working days) as the Thai Embassy and Consulates will observe both. Maximize those 10 working days by getting the passport in the post on a Friday.

I received a triple entry tourist visa by post last week from the Thai Embassy in London. Sent it on Mon and got it back on Fri the same week.

It's the 2nd time I've applied for a visa by post. Both times I've had my passport back the same week.

I sent my bapplication off on Tuesday and got the visa and passport back on the Saturday morning.

Remember in July / August the school holidays are in full swing. Often it takes a little longer.
