What's with all the tatoos on Thai men?

Featured Replies

Getting back to the tattoos in question, the sacred art of Sak Yant is embedded in Thai culture, I am very knowledgeable about this as I am directly involved in daily dealings with one particular Sak Yant Master. We have Angelina Jolie, Muay Thai (and premier league soccer) to thank for launching Sak Yant out into the western world. It is an intriguing thing and very powerful.

Old guys with new tattoos crack me up.

You are very narrow minded for an old codger

How does thinking something funny make me narrow minded?

I don't have any - honestcheesy.gif

I don't have any new ones...

Personally i do not have any tattoo's or would i get any, but if i was going to appreciate the aesthetics of tattoo's i would say they look considerably better against the darker skin of a Thai, where they are less prominent, compared to the way they stand out so much more on whiter skins of many farang here.

I find white folks with Tatoos is Naff,

Tatoos on women whatever race or colour , looks cheap and makes them look like a rough Diamond...

I actually like the Tatoos on Thai Males.....

How about old guys with new tattoos on their drop dead good looking young Thai girlfriends? I took that route as it is less painful and still as many people get to look at my tattoo (I call it mine because I bought it). clap2.gif

Tramp-stamp

The go-God tat the girls to brand them. Sad.

Love that expression "Tramp Stamp"....

But it's true....

why whould you give a shit what anyone does to their own body???

The old guy [in his 80's] from further down the Village has just walked by with his 7 year old great grand daughter, in over 11 years here have never seen him wear anything different then shorts and flip flops, arms, legs back and chest is totally full of Tattoos, look to be very old and faded .... not something new with him maybe from 60 year ago ?

Have seen a few younger people with tattoos, but a week later there gone, is there/was there a craze with painted tattoos ?

maybe not been in the right place, but most Thai men I have seen with a tattoo have just a single tattoo, most look rather nice....... unlike some of the 'western' type tattoos and piercings everywhere. up to each person what they like/want, got nothing against them, just see no point so have none, is it any different then men having a few rings ? ear rings ? gold or silver chains etc ?

edit: with rings and chains at least you can remove them, removing a tattoo is painful and leaves scaring

No, it isn't.

Silly hocus pocus nonsense. And it has been commercialised and abused by gullible, clueless tourists.

I don't know if it is true, but i have been told that the only Thai ladies you will see with Tats are bar girls/ex bar girls,i may have read this on Stickman too, anyone else think this is true.

whats wrong with kids these days anyways?

Why would you give a shit what others give a shit about?

Well ...what's up with all the tattoo's on Expat's ?whistling.gif

Why do you find it disturbing?blink.png

Tattoes are not disturbing, but like facial hair, it is mostly fat ugly guys who have them.

think tattoos would be harder to notice on Thai men due to their darker skin.

That hurts I was considering a small leprechaun.sad.png

Exactly

If a person deep down believes there is a rteward in it he will receive some thing from it. Maybe just a little bit more confidence. If a person deep down believes it is hocus pocus they will receive nothing from it. Real opinions will always make a difference.

As I said I am considering a leprechaun. It will be a small one on my upper arm. No one will see it unless I show them or reach out a ways. It means nothing to me I just like leprechauns and the possibilities for the design. Waiting to see if it is worth the 1,500 baht I was quoted and what they can do for a design. I have lots to choose from and a combination would be nice.smile.png

but like facial hair..............had a goatee since my early 20's so over 40 years, and would look ugly without one covers 2 moles on my chin

And young girls with Tattoo's turn me on. facepalm.gif

These FFN advertisements that prevent me from reading posts at the bottom of the page are more than annoying.

I think getting tattoos covering entire parts of your body is like going out and buying 5 shirts exactly the same and wearing them and no others for the rest of your life. After 10 years the shirts fade and start to look old and worn out. But that's my thinking.... People can shave their heads have bananas hanging from their ears and tattoo their entire face if it makes them happy, live and let live....

I think it looks funny as well

It is not a good look....the whiter the worse it looks...
