Striped flying squirrels in Phuket

Does anybody know if striped flying squirrels are found in Phuket? Four or five days ago one ran into in our Thai kitchen from the garden to get away from the dogs and has now taken up residence amongst the pots and pans next to the fridge in the back corner of the kitchen. I think they are found in the wild in parts of Thailand but not sure about Phuket. My wife thinks this may be somebody's pet that has escaped and found it's way to our house. It's getting bolder by the day but generally just shows itself during the night to take the food we put out. Does anybody have any experience with these animals? Can it be kept as a pet? Hopefully I can eventually catch it and either keep it or release it back into the wild. Any information would be much appreciated.
