About 2 months ago we found this dog stuck in a mud hole used by the local buffalo. Once he was freed, he was washed off and appeared to be in pretty bad shape. We inquired around the village & nobody claimed him or knew anything about him. I'm guessing that he was put out as well live in a mostly rural area. The picture of him with long coat & sitting on the grass was taken after most of the mud was removed. The picture of him on the rug was just taken prior to this post.

The next day we took him to the vet & had all his problems attended to. He was 6.0 kilo when he was first treated. After he gained some weight ( 7.5 kilo now) & regained his basic health, we had him fixed. The vet believes he is about 2 years old. Given his poor condition at the first vet visit, the vet says he is the luckiest dog in Thailand.

He is, in my opinion, a full blooded Shih Tzu. He is a great watch dog as he barks at people walking around our fence & even the local cows. He is house broken & loves to play tug with an old towel or rope. He stays inside the house & goes straight to his crate when told to do so. When he is finished with his business outside, he comes back to the door & sits there until he is let in. He is always at my side or at my feet, which research on the breed says is normal behavior for a Shih Tzu. He is sitting beside me at this very moment.

Now for the bad news. After 2 months he still does not get along with our other 2 dogs. They sort of tolerate him, but he will still attack the 8 month old puppy from time to time. Sometimes they sniff around a bit, but usually barking ensues when he approaches them. Our other dogs do their best to keep their distance or ignore him.

He was very bad tempered initially. I was hoping that having him fixed would remedy some of the aggressive tendencies. It has to an extent but he is still aggressive toward the other dogs (both females who have also been fixed).

As I said, I believe somebody put him out. He will be a good dog for a single person or a couple without kids or possibly teenage children. I believe his aggression is a result of the unintended abuse of small children. He is fine around adults.

We would like to find him a good home, someone that is looking for an inside dog. If you live in a condo, he would be perfect. He has an iron bladder.

We live in Issan...south of Mukdahan & north of Amnat Charoen.

He is free to a good home. If you are interested, please send me a PM with your phone number & best time to call & I will contact you. If he is not your cup of tea but you know someone that might be interested, please pass this along.
