My son was taken from us the other week, gutted.

Turned our backs for a few seconds and he was hit by a bike who obviously didn't stick around.

"Dog-less" people may frown upon the sentiments displayed here - and in other cases where humans lose their dog . . . . . . but let me tell you, when our Foxy (Thai' Sheppard-looking "Garbage-Race") passed-away, the day after a major operation, my wife & I were crying for 3 days ! ! ! - This dog had, like the poster here, become very much part of our family. We buried her, with "full military honors" and now; 12 years later, whenever we visit our farm, the first thing I do is to sit on that big rock, which serves as her headstone - and have a little "chat" with her - we still miss her enormously after all that time.

So: Longstebe; we know what you're going through and wish you all the strength in the world.

May your K9 Rest In Peace !

If I hit a dog that is on the road,I will not stop and risk getting a bite and then going through course of anti rabis injections, also having the nearest Thai demand compensation for the dog whether it is his or not. In Australia I owned and loved dogs for 45 years and they were not allowed out onto the roads and only let off the lead in the dog safe areas. It is your responsiblity to keep your dog safe away from traffic

More like talk about a man who loves dog, but would not stop to help onebah.gif

My condolences longstebe.its hard to lose our little friends.

In Thailand, roads are a nightmare and people on them even worse.

Do not want to sound out of place, but from experience, getting a puppy/saving one really helpswai.gif

Just an update:

We've been lucky enough to bury him at our new home we're having built. His brother still seems a bit lost though.

i can imagine how is brother feels.we have been freinds with the neighbours dog for the past 6yrs.a miniture pincher and when we got our beloved nearly 4yrs.ago he made freinds with him straight away and he is the only other dog he will let near our gate.they have their dinner together every night that was till 16th of may when our neighbour had a wedding do. something happened to him that night and he was unable to walk the next day. and i had to spoon feed him, only small amounts,to say he was in a bad shape is far from the truth, the past days i have said goodbye to him with tears in my eye's.our boy has missed him and keeps looking over the road for him.

as he is over 12yrs.old i never thought he would pull through, well every night i have been waiting for his owner to come home from work so she could feed him it was getting to me i love him more than than them.well last night i went over with his food and there he was waiting at the gate ready to come over our house, talk about a fighter i think his owner has been giving him viagra.this morning he got out and was sat outside our gate so i have got to de-tick him and powder him before he comes to see his mate.

long live do-do.

Brilliant news mate. It put a smile on my face when you said " they have their dinner together every night". Ha ha that's sound.

I'm hoping nobody gave the dog something they shouldn't have, I suppose that's in the past and the main thing is he's OK.

Cheers Alfie.

Ha ha no mate, he's originally from the shores of Phuket.

He came to live with us when I was working in the states.

The snow pic was taken in Colorado.

The others were all taken in Texas.

Anyways....I hope your not beating yoirself up over this. Accident plain and simple. Regretable of course.

This year lost two cats to stray dogs...........These cats would sit and talk to me...Well I learned by their chat and eyes what they were saying...Good fun that I can understand these felines and be part of a family.....yeh, good fun. Now got a real rascal of a cat, follows Mrs.Trans everywhere, sits whilst she is working and follows again...Good fun. Must say the lost cats did the same. Some things in life bring smiles every day...smile.png

Sorry for your loss mate, its worse when their taken before old age kicks inn.

Sorry to hear about your dog.

I know they become a lot more than just "pets" and its tough when they have to go.

They say time heals all...but it really doesn't.

Regards.

Just came across your post, longstebe. Truly sorry for your loss.

From one who had loss a few in the many years of living with these loyal 'blessed gift of love', it aches.

You must still be feeling raw but take heart, he came into your life for a purpose...to love you unconditionally. That I'm most certain he did with flying colours!

His purpose no matter that it was cut short tragically, was served above and beyond.

Thus, be consoled he's in a special place. He came and went but not without leaving you a gift...an indelible memory of joys and happiness!

Keep that cherished memory for he forever lives in your heart.

Cheers

Amazing...after more than 6 decades of living, your mental faculties are but of a baby still on fours. A man stand on two feet firmly planted on the ground.

Agreed, dogs are not allowed out onto the roads.

You are indeed, not allowed too! For being a hazard and perhaps, with the onset of Alzheimer's.

Don't drive and go live in an institution, keep everyone safe!
