Have you ever considered copper? Not cheap but last years (much like iron) and better heat distribution.

I believe there is a dedicated casserole shop open or opening at Gad Farang - never been in, just driven past on my way out from Rimping Supermarket.

Raro will refer you to Rimping. They are selling at nearly the same price as he is when you include shipping.

I was at Kad Farang today and checked - surprisingly, a dedicated "Le Creuset" shop selling some of the best casserole pots (but not cheap) in the world.
