My niece is interested in continuing her studies in education at a UK institution and is seeking suggestions. Ok you UK teachers, what options does she have? She is a graduate of a Thai university. Thanks for any suggestions.

She will need to take the IELTS test, but as long as she has good grades, and the money she should apply to the program she is interested in. Many Thai graduates do their Masters and PhD in the UK. Australia is slightly more popular right now as it is cheaper and closer.

IELTS 6.5

OK, so now it is partially down to finances and in particular accommodation. Do you have any family in a UK major city who are able to provide and is she planning to go on her own or with a friend? The other factor is whether you are the financial provider and have the necessary monies and are able to support wherever she chooses ie does she have a blank cheque as far as choice of insititution?

finances are not a problem, blank check in effect. She has no relatives or connections and will be finding accommodation near the school.

Reading Uni would not be a bad option. It's recently received a glowing report from Ofsted for its PGCE.

It's probably the closest uni to Heathrow, which could be an important consideration for international students and their families. It's close to central London (30-40 minues by train) but far enough away not be a suburb of that great metropolis, and close to some of the most beautiful upstream stretches of the River Thames.

Also close to some world-renowned heritage sites... Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, Stratford upon Avon (Shakespeare's old place), the 2,000 year old Roman City of Bath etc etc

Great rail links, having been an important Victorian Railway town. But with a modern feel as it's at the centre of the silicon IT corridor stretching west from London to Bristol. Also fairly cosmopolitan, so a young Thai lady should not feel out of place,
