Tourist visa extension question

Featured Replies

My triple entry tourist visa expires July 2 and I am flying out July 6. Am I able to get an extension at Chiang Mai immigration? Or, would I get a re-entry, that would give me at least the minimum required 4 days, at Mae Sai? My passport also has 2 additional triple tourist visas and one 12 month ED visa, all with applicable re-entry stamps. Likely to be an issue at Mae Sai.?

You can get an extension at CM-immigration for 1,900 baht. You will need copies of your passport, departure card and a pass photo.

I thought the 1900 baht extension was only for visa exempt entries? If wrong, my mistake

If you have already gotten the 30 day extension of your 60 day entry you could apply for a 7 day extension, pay the 1900 baht fee and be given 7 days to leave.

You could get a a 15 day visa exempt entry at Mae Sai unless you are from a G7 country which would get you 30 days.

All extensions are 1,900 baht, regardless for how long.

Each entry on a tourist visa can be extended by 30 days. But if you got that extension already you can get 7 days to leave the country.

Thanks for the info. The Mae Sai option may be preferable as I only need 4 days.

ubonjoe I'm very surprised by the information you give here.blink.png

I understood no matter which country you come from, the 30 day visa exempt entry can no longer be obtained if you are walking into Thailand as opposed to arriving at the airport?

You are mistaken !

ALL G7 country passport holders get 30 days when "walking in" Others receive 15 days !

Thanks for that confirmationsmile.png

I hadn't heard that citizens of the G7 countries had retained that right.

(It's hard to keep up with changes sometimes)

Those from G7 countries have been able to get 30 day visa exempt entries at border crossings since November of 2013.
