O Visa (Marriage) ends on June 30th, going for the extension next week

Featured Replies

Hey guys, as the title states I'm going w/ my wife to immigration (CW) next week to do the O visa extension based on Marriage. Questions:

1. Does CW still allow 1 year extensions? Do I put 365 days on the TM-7?

2, How does my check-list look? Anything you would add?
- TM7 (filled out)
- Copy of Passport
- KhorRor 2, 3, and the letter from my Embassy (USA) stating that I'm not previously married + the translation/legalization stuff
- Copies of Wifey's ID + Tabien Baan, signed by her
- Stamped (by the bank) bank statement showing 400k+ in a savings account from previous 2 months + my bank book
- Photos of us throughout the years + of the house + inside the house, all that
- Map showing the location of our residence and directions to it

- 1.9k baht

3. Do I receive the visa this day or how does it work?

Thanks in advance!

1. Yes You put 365 days on the application.

2. Copies of passport photo page, visa, entry/permit to stay stamp and TM6 departure card.

Assume you mean a letter from the bank confirming your balance. Copies of bank to book to prove the money has been in the bank for 2 months.

You should only need recent photos of you and the wife in and around the house. One must show the house number with both of you in the photo.

3. You get an under consideration stamp with a report back date 30 days from when you do the application. When you go back they will do the one year extension stamp (it is not a visa) from the date your current permit to stay ends..

During the 30 days they may do a house visit.

Edit: If not living where your wife's house book is for you will need proof of residence. A rental agreement with copies of the landlords house book and ID card attached.

2 copies of everything. Yes you fill out 1 year. They also like you to fill out the reason as support thai wife, but I always put live with my wife, they change it every time.

Marriage license photocopy both sides as the license number is on the back. I also bring originals of everything just in case.

Photocopy of your bankbook every page that has something written on it.

Some times they also want every page of your passport photocopied but usually not. CM immigration can be crazy sometimes.

Ok after you submit the documents and answer some questions in the interview. If you are younger they really want to know why you aren't working. Or if you are working where is your work permit. Then after you pay and everything is processed, they will stamp your passport and you will have to come back in a month or 2 whatever they stamp it. In a week or 2 after the interview an immigration officer will come to your house and interview your neighbors. This isn't always done but expect it for first time extensions. When you go back to Immigration a month or so later, you will get your one year stamp from that day. You will also notice that you will need to do 90 day reporting and they will do that for you too.

Make sure the photos also include an image of you both in front of your residence with the address clearly visible.

Only one application form and a set of copies attached to it is needed at Chaeng Wattana immigration.

As above

You will not receive a "visa. Just an "extension of stay" if the application succeeds.........

Thanks, in advance, for any info.

What "info" is being sought ?

"When you go back to Immigration a month or so later, you will get your one year stamp from that day. "

NO. Your 30 day under consideration is part of your 12 months extension. That under consideration time is added on at the end of your O-visa. and when you go back your remaining time is added about 11 months

The first time I did it I was asked for my 'freedom to marry' document, which I didn't have. Take everything plus copies.
