Help... Lost page in my UK Passport with visa in

Featured Replies

Hi, my passport is nearly 9 years old and has many many stamps and visas in it. Unfortunately about 6 pages have gone missing (don't ask, think my nephew got a bit heavy handed with it!) and one of those pages has the stamp in for my current and valid 30 day Visa on Arrival.

I arrived into thailand on the 12th May 2015 so the 30 days is up on the 11th June (This Thursday)

I am now back in Bangkok after only discovering that the page wasn't there on Saturday so flying back here last night and waiting for 9am today to sort it. I haven't booked my flight back to the UK yet as don't know how long it will take but can be on the next emirates flight to UK if needed so no problem overstaying etc??

I was hoping of just going to Bangkok Immigration and asking for them to look on the system, see when i entered and re stamp my passport? but as is the case with these kind of things, they are never that straight forward.

Also, what costs will i need to pay to sort this??

All help gladly welcomed!!

Your passport is invalid with any page missing so very sure you will not get a new stamp or be allowed to depart Thailand. Believe you will need an emergency travel document from your embassy (or a new passport) to make your exit and return to UK.

Can anyone confirm this? Although it does sound about right. thanks Lopburi3.

lopburi3 is spot on I'm afraid.

I'll move your thread to the Thailand Visa section, and I'm also changing the caps.

As said, apply for an emeregncy travel document. (Ask the embassy if you will need a police report for this).

Once you have the emergency travel document you visit immirgation, to have the entry details noted in their so you can leave. You might be able to get everything done before Thursday if you visit the embassy today.

1. If you want to book an appointment (strongly advised), check here:

https://www.consular-appointments.service.gov.uk/fco/#!/british-embassy-bangkok/issuing-an-emergency-travel-document/slot_picker

At the minute they have 2 slots available on the 10th, at 8am and 9am. That will give you plenty of time to get to Chang Wattana to get your ETD stamped.

2. Get a police report.

3. Complete this form:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/application-for-a-united-kingdom-emergency-travel-document--2

4. Take a photo of yourself.

5. Take a copy of your flight booking.

6. The cost is 4,940 baht.

7. Be aware you will have to go to Thai Immigration afterwards to get an exit stamp.

As said the passport is invalid .

You need to apply for an emergency travel document at the British embassy.

The document will cost the equivalent of £95 at the British embassy's Thai Bht exchange rate.

You need to attend this matter urgently.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR REPLIES. SO WHILE I WAS SORTING THIS I DECIDED TO BOOK MY FLIGHT HOME. Booked for 10am Wednesday as it was £100 cheaper than going thursday for some reason? then i got the post about appointments wednesday!

So I've got to get to place at 9am and queue hoping i get it sorted tomorrow.

ill let you all know.

I took copies of my passport photo page before i came but never thought to copy the visa stamp, wouldn't think i would need to in the 21st century. all logged on computers?? no? not being sarcastic by the way, I'm just thinking. does everyone else take copies of visa? ok i suppose longer term yes but 30 day stamp on arrival never thought. all things to note for next time.

Have electronic copies of all relevant passport pages plus departure card and 90 day report slip (if applicable).

Always carry copys with me when on the road.

Its a mantra at Thaivisa tongue.png

Copies on three different storage places (PC, laptop, smartphone).

I might or might not need printouts for visits at the immigration office.

Passport is firmly locked away in a fireproof safe.

No kiddy tearing or smearing.

Take my passport with me only for the absolute necessary occasions.

Lock it away ASAP.

Why would it sound fishy? i would prefer to tell the truth really. show them the passport where the spine is coming undone and the pages missing are pages 7 and 8 and pages 25 and 26 thats is all. surely the truth is best??

No problem but they might require a police report for missing pages as they do for lost passports; do not know there policy - but with your timing it could be an issue if not done before Embassy visit. If passport was lost am quite sure it would be required and you would go with that report that you obtain tomorrow. The arrival stamp will not be an issue as they will have that on computers - just need your passport information and might be good if you know your date of arrival.

Edit: believe you have changed from Wednesday to Tuesday Embassy visit without appointment - sorry was thinking you were not doing anything tomorrow.

Agreed .

No reason to tell anything other than the truth.

You might be well advised to obtain a police report concerning the damage prior to going to the Embassy .

Does the OP still have the TM6 arrival/departure card? If I am not mistaken, the Arrivals Immigration guy would have stamped the Departure slip (which you keep) with your arrival date. May help in the grand scheme of things.

The British embassy require a police report before they will issue an ETD.

Are you sure? For a lost passport yes but damaged it should not be required by any common sense measure. But would not rule it out.

Sorry dude. It doesn't get much worse than this. A lot of work ahead for you .So to all out there keep yer passport where only you know where it is. No help I know but a warning to others. Good luck , hope you get it sorted .

The date stamped when you got your 30 day visa exempt - not a visa - should be the 10th, not the 11th if you really entered on 12 May.

I thought I was sure - turns out I was wrong. I checked again and it's a police report for lost or stolen passports but not for damaged passports. My apologies.

Consider also what documents the immigration will want to see. I suggest you inquire from them without delay, seeing that you have booked your flight for the 10th.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
