PATHUM THANI — A police officer has been charged with premeditated murder for fatally shooting a 30-year-old man at a police station in Pathum Thani province yesterday.

Police say Assaneechaiyapol Charoenwinit was shot in his right rib cage by Police Lance Corporal Paisit Onsongchan at Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station at around 4:30am on Sunday morning.

According to the station’s chief, Pol.Col. Korawat Hanpradit, the officer said he was manning his desk and interrogating six suspected drug dealers when Assaneechaiyapol suddenly burst into the police station wielding a knife.

Assaneechaiyapol reportedly refused to stand down and lunged toward the police officer, leading Pol.Lc. Paisit to fire two warning shots, Pol.Col. Korawat said.

After those shots reportedly failed to stop Assaneechaiyapol, Pol.Lc. Paisit shot at him directly. He later died from the gunshot wound at the hospital.

Pol.Col. Korawat said police are investigating Pol.Lc. Paisit and have charged him with premeditated murder.

This story is absolutely ridiculous. Why the hell would one guy be interrogating 6 drug dealers at the same time while also manning the front desk?

And then some geezer brandishing a blade rocks up from nowhere and ends up full of lead on the floor of the cop shop all within seconds.. I'm not buying any of these graphic lies.

And surely premeditated murder would only be possible if the copper invited the knife guy along to be murdered and he went along. And who in their right mind would choose to be a murder victim and actually turn up on cue to receive his bullet....

This is farcical and if it wasn't for a guy in the morgue would be comic stupidity gold

Typical useless garbled reporting by the look of it. A copper acting in self-defence (supposedly) and possibly protecting others (supposedly) is charged with pre-meditated murder (assumed), does this mean he was clairvoyant - knew the knife wielding crazy was on his was and waited for him to appear before firing 2 warning shots before the premeditated fatal shot.

Give us a break Thai PBS - most of your story are useless anyway - but this one might win the "stupid report" category for 2015.

Edited to add: Might be time for TV to proof-read these stories before posting them.

If the story is even close to true, how the hell can it be premeditated? Surely he'd have to be able to see the future for that to happen?

It was premeditated because...I suspect the policeman gave the man the knife earlier and asked him to bring it to the police station so that they could split a watermelon he had on his desk at work...either that or...it was premeditated suicide...

warning shots.....cheesy.gif - more fine training of a police force

From the RTP training manual - Ensure you fire at least two warning shots from your revolver that contains 6 rounds. Ensure you deplete 33% of your ammunition in your firearm before you attempt to stop a lethal threat.

We all know they were CYA shots after he dropped.

It all comes down to police brutality. Whether here, or elsewhere, where policies officers shoot to kill instead or shooting their victims in the foot. I believe they were taught that in the police academy.

So, what you are saying is when Joe Badguy is charging at you with a knife, you aim for his foot.....

If the police version of events is true, why has he been charged with anything?

Exactly - Police version is lies, its Cold blooded murder but of course the officer will get of Scott free, after all they are above the law here .... sick.gifsick.gifsick.gif
