Western style chinese restaurant in Phuket, does one exsist?

Featured Replies

As the title indicates we are looking for a western style chinese, we may be dreaming but thought it was worth a try and ask.

thank you

Sorry to say but simple answer would be , no.

Really? How about the royal kitchen in patong.....only to name one.

Im assuming though the op would be refering to whats known as a "chinky" .

A common term used for a chinese restaurant , at least in the UK.

There is one Pattaya called Wok'nRok.... And whilst they do deliver I don't think that's in their range.

Amazing what people will ask for. I am sure this one ranks at the top for bizarre-ness.

A serious question. Nothing wrong with that. I personally would not go out of my way to find food from my home country but others do. Better than the countless long reads about fish 'n chips and Marmite. And to answer the question: sorry don't know of any. Obviously one would expect Chinese food here to be adjusted to Thai taste (make it more spicy and/or more sweet) not western taste.

I think when away from home there is just something you miss the most, mostly because it is not readily available.

Yes i was thinking about a "chinky" we just miss sweet and sour pork balls and spare ribs, LOL.

Love thai food too!

Western Chinese ? , please tell me its so :-)

Never heard of it , just a nagging feeling it wont be a "chinky" if it is its Phuket Best Kept Secret for Sure :-)

The Royal Kitchen in Patong is the nearest you'll find I think.

At the top of the Royal Paradise Hotel.

The royal kitchen is not even close to a western chinese , its probably the most authentic Chinese quisine on the the island.

Western Chinese it is not.

But hey thanks op , reckon you have confirmed a menu option on our menu should I proceed with the restaurant im considering as most if not all the ingredients would be common in other meals.

Lightbulb on for a moment :-)

Why would you want one !!!! western Chinese food sucks unless your looking for comfort food "missing home are we" I find most Chinese / Thai restaurants in Thailand will cook what ever you ask for if there not too busy as long as there not Hi So establishments......

It is all a question of definition. OP is looking for a uk style chinese "takeaway".

For me a good western chinese "restaurant" is something like the mentioned royal kitchen.

What Phuket really needs is a burger bar like Johnny Rockets in Pavilion in KL.

Pearl Hotel Phuket Town

Roof Top real Chinese restaurant - just like in London's Gerrard Street.

One in Cherntalay - near Laguna and 2 mins walk from the Villa Market there - called the "Hong Kong". Original name of course.

Maybe it plans to cater for the influx of Mainland Chinese tourists - who are coming in greater & greater numbers.

It is expensive, but it serves the usual Chinese food.

I didn't know this one.

Is the food there mainly Cantonese, or Mandarin?

Been covered before... answear to op is No, not in Patong anyway, the Royal is overpriced and crap unless its changed in last 2 years or so.Then we get into Chinese style food depending what home country you hail from... Uk then is mostly Cantonese style/Hong Kong styl, US differant again, either way you won't find any like it in Patong just the really poor excuse at the Royal Paradise But I would not bother, go get some fried beef or chicken with yellow noodles (just like Chow Mein, cheap and good enough...

Ooh, I was lambasted and accused of being racist and an ass last week for using the exact term, as 100% agree with you and I know you do not mean it in any offending way...
