Sufficient funds in bank for non-imm O, but not sourced from overseas

Featured Replies

I wish to convert my Tourist Visa to a Non-Immigrant O Visa based on retirement in Bangkok. I have sufficient funds in my Thai Bank to cover the financial requirement, however only about 300K was sent from my own country (UK). The rest was from sale of property within Thailand and funds were transferred to my bank account from a Thai bank a/c 6 months ago. Is this likely to pose a problem for my application ? If so is there anything I can do short of transferring the money to and from UK and waiting 3 months for the money to season ?

All helpful replys welcome, thanks

You can try with with proof that the money come from the sale.

Note that for the conversion you need to have 15 days left on your permisison to stay, but you do not need to season the money. When you go and apply for the 1 year extension, you must have seasoned it for 2 motnhs and the extensions after that 3 months.

An alternative might be to go for a combination of income and money in the bank.

You could try and and show some proof of where the funds came from.

But it might be easier to just make a trip to Vientiane for a single entry non-o visa. Just show them your bank book with 800k baht in the account.

Is the Bank book the only proof I need in Vientiane ? Would I need to bring

any other dovuments ?

Just your passport to prove your age and the bank book is needed. Do an update of the book just before you make your trip to Vientiane.

Thanks for all the helpful answers........ Think I'll go for the Vientiane option

In 2010, I did it with funds that came 100 % from Thailand. But, I did need to provide documentation to show where the funds came from.
