Overstay

Featured Replies

Hi people

I've just extended my visa it says admitted to the 11th of July which is a Saturday

I am going to go to loas to get a new double entry visa

I want to spend as little time there as possible

Because the embassy is closed over the weekend I was thinking of going on the Monday which is the 13th

so how many days overstay would this be 1 or 2 and how much dose it cost

Also dose having 1 or 2 days overstay affect your chances of getting a new visa in the future

Thank a lot for any help

You extended your stay ! Visas are never extended .

Overstay is 500baht/day

Seems as tho your plan will result in a 1000 bht fine.

It would be 2 days of overstay at 500 baht per day.

No effect on you getting the visa.

Thanks but 1000b is still cheaper then 2 days in Vientiane

If you go on Friday there will be less people waiting as they have to wait until Monday, which obviously also will involve less waiting time. Plenty of cheap hotels in Vientiane, up to you.

Dose anyone know if I can travel overnight from Bangkok to Vientiane and arrive at the embassy at a good

time Monday morning to apply for my visa

Thanks

If you arrive early enough you can make it in time to apply. I suggest being at the bridge no later than nine.

Mondays are a bad day because that is when the visa run vans arrive.

The 500 baht you would save if you arrived on Sunday would almost pay for a low cost cost hotel. Then get to the embassy at about 8 am to beat the crowds on Monday.

You can take a train from Bangkok to Nong Khai, night train, I forget, but I think it arrives about 6a.m. in Nong Khai if it is on time, then 5 minutes to the bridge by samlor/tuk tuk.

And as Ubon says you can get a cheap room for 3 -400 Baht.

Thanks for the help guys I might go the night before and beat the crowds

But to tell the truth i not looking forward to Vientiane last time I was there I was bored 2 tears

Bt500 per day + between a half and a full page in your passport to stamp the overstay and fine information and whatever amount of time it takes for it to be processed.

A half a passport page or more is worth a lot more to me than being forced to drink beer Lao for a couple of days to stave off boredom . And I would NEVER voluntarily choose a Monday to be making an application in Vientiane to save "wasting" one or two days of an existing stay permit. Penny wise, pound foolish as the saying goes.

I agree Vientiane is super boring.

I always pack my beauty essentials and do all the stuffs I don't have time for during the year; Hair mask, manicure, pedicure, body and face yoga, detox, etc

The sleeper train arrives too late and so do all the flights, you are left with the 3rd class non sleeper train or the bus.

Good point yme

But I've got a brand new super bumper passport so I've decided not to worry about that

I am now thinking of doing one of those all in visa runs from pattaya for about 8000b

Has anyone done one?

Or go on the 11th hand my passport In then go 2 Vang vieng and float around the hills 4 couple of days

But not sure if I am 2 old 4 all that now lol
