Sweet child of mine

There is a Chiang Mai version equally full of semi-amusing stupidity. You can google it.

^^^ The point of my post is at 1m 20 sec. The rest is standard crash and burn stuff.

Kept watching for a few minutes....Holy hell....anyone want to buy a pushbike.

For the life of me, i cant understand WHY small children are allowed to be carried on Motorbikes at all....

Necessity one would hope.

So so dangerous though.

Exactly, but this is the first time I have come across a vid of an accident (minor though it is) of a Thai dad holding an infant in one arm.

It's talked about often enough on TV - that is, fathers riding with one hand on the motorbike and one arm cradling a baby, and what would happen in an accident. Thank heavens the baby in this incident is safe.

And what are you supposed to do with them? Walk 20 km with them on the hand?

People must work, have no money and can't sit 3 years at home at full salary like in Europe.

We're talking about an infant, a tiny baby, the weakest member of the human race, being carried in the crook of the arm by a father who is riding a motorcycle and steering it with one hand on some of the most dangerous streets in the world. And all you can do is ask what do you do with them. Sorry mate, but you've left me a bit flummoxed with that one.

Sorry Wit I can't watch these stories they repulse me to much.

It is not only dangerous because of possible traffic accidents. It is also dangerous because the skeleton of a child and cettainly an infant isn't fully developed yet. The schoks alone from riding on a motorcycle are not good for a small child.

Not pretty, that's for sure. But I only posted the clip because of that brief segment at 1m 20 involving a Thai dad holding his tiny infant on the bike and being shunted from behind. It's very mild, but still disturbing.

The dad (I use the term loosely), is able to step off the bike while it's in motion and remain on his feet with his kid still under his arm. So no damage to him or child. But if the shunt had been harder, he and kid would have been slammed into the car in front with harsher consequences.

Cheers mate. Hope you find the time to escape the SA cold for a while.

Yes you would think as an adult pure commonsense would prevail without the need to be taught sometimes.

Aha, the old problem: commonsense---Thailand = oxymoron
