3 people in Nakhon Ratchasima test negative for MERS

BANGKOK, 21 June 2015 (NNT) - Three people who were on the same plane as Thailand’s first MERS patient from Oman test negative for the virus. The public health department in Nakhon Ratchasima where the three people stay has imposed strict measures against the disease.

Chief of the provincial public health department in Nakhon Ratchasima M.D. Wichai Khatthiyawitthayakun said the blood tests conducted on the three people showed negative for MERS. One of them, a six year old boy, was diagnosed with influenza and hospitalized at the Pak Chong Nana hospital. He was recovering well, the doctor said.

The provincial public health has called a meeting between public health officers from all areas in Nakhon Ratchasima on preparations for MERS. All hospitals were instructed to prepare clean rooms and quarantine those who show MERS-like symptoms immediately.
