Where to Buy: Herbicide

Featured Replies

I need to kill off the vegetation in an area of about 15m2. I've tried spraying a vinegar/soap solution in direct sun with no luck, so now I'm looking for a real herbicide like Roundup or Spectracide.

Have tried HomePro, Thai Watsadu, House&Home and our usual garden center in Kathu - no luck in any of these places.

Any thoughts on where I might buy this (preferably in the Southern part of Phuket)?

I buy our weed killer in HomePro. Bit hard to find. In HomePro Chalong it's in the back right corner garden section. On the right side shelves. Best of luck.

Home Pro...use Diquat. Becare full in handling. Carefully read intsructions on use. Used a great deal on water plants in klongs but it works very well on land. Same family as paraquat no reliable antidote.

Thanks to both of you! I'll try HomePro in Chalong.

Last time I asked at HomePro in Phuket Town, they just looked in the glass case where they keep the fertilizer and insecticide and said "no have".

That crap is hell on the environment. You can't hire some kid to scythe it down?

Actually it is not.

5555! Tell that to the bees and the Vietnamese.

As I understand "Roundup" has now come off patent and copies are being made by Thai Chemical companies. Usually sold in 4 liter plastic bottles and the main ingredient is written in English......48% GYLOSPHATE .

I imagine using the term 'Roundup" would not be known in the Shops you mentioned. Original Roundup was more expensive than the Thai versions now available and was a little hard to find. Plenty of the shops who sell sprays for farmers have the Thai versions in stock. I pay 460 baht for 4 liters.

Yes. Beat me to it. I buy it in smaller sizes. Maybe 1 liter? Need to apply on a sunny day with no rain forecast. Rain a day or two later, for me at least, has mixed results. Some pesky weeds have more resistance. I have tried to kill off some banana trees with little effect.

When asking around in the shops, my wife was asking only for "weed killer" in Thai.

I'll try HomePro in Chalong, as others have found it there, but I was wondering where else this would be stocked. I'm not aware of any agricultural supply shops anywhere near Patong smile.png
