4 held for trading in fake North Korean currency
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- A Bahrain national and three Thais from the South were arrested along with 23.7 million in fake North Korean won banknotes in Bangkok's Wattana District yesterday afternoon.

Following a tip-off about some fake money being traded in the area, police held a sting operation to buy the banknotes from Bahraini Elyas Ghuloom Mohamed, 54, and the three Thais, namely Maslan Waji, 40; Tamici Doloh, 34; and Yusoh Kadae, 29.

After noticing a pile of the notes in the suspects' car, police then identified themselves and took the suspects into custody.

Get them a way ticket to N. Korea, I assure you, they will never ever do that again....

Now the cops are probably bemoaning why deed it had to be this crap of a currency

and not something more usable to them....

Who would want to buy N.Korean bank notes, fake OR real,as the

only place you could use them would be N.Korea,

Fake N.Korean money, thats strange when N.Korea is one of the

largest producers of counterfeit money in the world, but Dollars.

Can't fix stupid. Perhaps defense might be North Korean money is worthless outside of N Korea, and not worth much there?

Actually that's not correct. Even North Koreans don't want North Korean money - even when its genuine. No foreign person is allowed to use it. They are required to use Euros or Yuan

And what is the official exchange rate for North Korean notes?

'Give you a hint. They were probably planning to sell it to the scrap paper recycler.

I'm sorry to see these guys locked up.

I've got some Zimbabwe dollars I'm using for mattress stuffing. If the N. Korean money is fluffier, I would gladly trade.closedeyes.gif
