Tourist Visa Application Help - Departure Date

Featured Replies

I have searched the forum for this answer, but cannot find one that matches, so any help would be appreciated. I am applying for a double entry tourist visa (to stay for six months, with the two 60-day stay visas and hopefully two 30-day extensions). However, I do not know what date to put as the 'departure date' (it's on the application) so that I don't seem presumptuous that I will get a double entry or an extension. Do I put the 59 day departure date? Or a departure date four months after (with the double entry?) One of the US consulates is asking for tickets out for each entry/exit, though I am not sure exactly when I will be leaving the second time. Any advice would be appreciated.

You'll probably need to put the date shown on your return ticket which since you want a 2x entry, should not be within the 1st 60-90 days

Departure date is the date you will leaving for your trip to here.

You should contact the location where you will be applying as to what they want. Most will accept a itinerary detailing your travel plans..

Why do you need an itinerary or even a flight ticket booked when you are applying for a double entry tourist visa? Can't you apply for the visa, they give you the visa in your passport then you book a single way ticket to Thailand afterwards?

You usually need a return ticket to get the visa in the 1st place, im going from my experience in getting a 2x entry in australia

This obviously dosnt apply when your getting a tourist visa in Laos, as long as the form is at least half filled out and you give them money your sweet

Because it a a requirement set out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From requirements on this webpage .http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/4908/15398-Issuance-of-Visa.html

"Evidence of travel from Thailand (air ticket paid in full)"

Some embassies and consulates strictly enforce it while others do not. Within the region only the embassies and consulates in neighboring countries do not ask for tickets out of the country.

Where in Oz did you get it? Was it in Sydney by any chance?

I took a look at the Sydney website & it doesn't mention anything about this: http://www.thaiconsulatesydney.org/thai/visa#country/a/australia

What about if someone was planning to leave Thailand by land? They still need an air ticket?

Didn't people on this forum before say you only need an outbound ticket for a 30 day exemption but all visas you don't need a return ticket? Did something change recently for tourist visas?

Leaving at a border crossing could be proven by having a bus or train ticket if the embassy or consulate was insisting on proof of onward travel.

You only need a ticket to apply for the visa as I said. A return or onward ticket is not needed to board a flight to here or enter the country if you have a valid visa of any type.

Thank you for your input. The one consulate is asking for tickets for each entry/exit to get the visa, the other is asking for departure date from Thailand. Since the final leg isn't determined yet I was unsure what to put but I will be safe and see if I can contact them. Thank you.

As a I wrote before the departure date is the date you plan on leaving the states not your departure from here.
