2 mth stamp at immigration based on child

Featured Replies

Last time i went to Samut Prakan immigration i was told i can get a 2 month stamp there for 1900 based on my children. I didnt have a current visa to extend, just a 30 day arrival overland stamp.

Has anyone done this or heard of it elsewhere? Is it common knowledge at all immigration offices?

Thanks

Yep. Regular extension.

2.24 In the case of visiting a spouse or children who are of Thai Nationality:
Each permission shall be granted for no more than 60 days.

1. Application form
2. Copy of applicant’s passport
3. Copy of household registration certificate
4. Copy of national ID card of the person having Thai nationality

5. Copy of a marriage certificate or copy of a birth certificate

The extension can be done for any type of entry and that includes a visa exempt entry.

In order to continually extend visa for being father of Thai child you will need initially a non o visa. The non o can be extended for no more than 1 year.

To get the non o.

Your regular details for visa + Kids birth certificate, original and copy, copy and original of the house book. All documents (copies of) to be signed. Original and Copy of your partner/wife birth certificate (signed)

I may have went with too much documents..no much is better than too few!

process year long stay.

400,000 THB in Thai bank account, in your name for 2 or 3 months (immigration law does not actually state a period of time!, but they do ask!)

Child/Children have to be legally yours via sworn family court . statement if under 7 years old or at local amphur if older than 7 years old.

Both processes are straight forward, my little one took 3 months via family court. (Only months old) and 2 court appearances. One of which was an interview

separately (me and the GF) with a legal secretary. Second sworn statement in front of a Judge..who looked oddly like OJ Simpson!

With that extra piece of paper work, you can get an extension for one year. You will need other stuff when applying, like proof that you are living together,

photo (2) of you and child and mother together recently taken, and the poo yai ban to sign a declaration that you live together as a family.

Also, be required to draw a map on how to get to the house where you live.

As far as I know you can renew indefinitely your 60 day extension, (renew many times over without leaving the country) but that may depend on you initially having a non o visa in the first instance. Also gonna eat up the pages in your passport!

Just thought I'd mention the year extension possibility as it would save you going to immigration every 2 months!

A 60 day extension can only be applied for once per entry. It requires leaving the country and getting a new entry to get another one.

Confused now....

You do not need a non-o visa to apply for the 60 day extension. As I wrote before it can be done on a visa exempt entry.

You could get a single entry non-o at a nearby embassy or consulate with your name shown on the birth certificate and a copy of your child's house book registry. With the 60 day extension that would give a total stay of about 5 months without leaving the country.

After the one year extension, do you need to go get another non-o visa? Then go through the whole extension process again? Also, the initial non-O visa is for 90 days yes? So if you get the extension is it 90 days plus one year? Is the extension a multi entry? I am getting mine processed right now. Had TONS of paperwork to do. Had to go to this building then this building then this building lol Wow! It took two days to just apply for my extension. Now there is a 30 day period while they consider my application for extension. So there is an appointment in 30 days after i have applied for my extension.

No need for a new visa. Just apply for new extension during the last 30 days of your current extension.

A extensions start from the date your current permit to stay ends. In your case that would be at the end of your 90 day entry.

You must get a re-entry permit after your extension is stamped to keep it valid if you want to travel. A single costs 1000 baht and a multiple 3800 baht.

The report back date is not an appointment. You can check with your office a few days before that date to find out if they have gotten the approval.
