ED visa run in Singapore or extend in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Just wanted to ask a quick question. I'm currently doing at internship in Bangkok and am on a 90 day single entry ED visa. Because my internship is 6 months long I have to get the visa extended. I'm Singaporean and I am planning to go back home for short visit just when the 90 day ED visa expires.

For the sake of convenience, would it be advisable for me to apply for another ED visa at the Thai embassy in Singapore itself? I've read that that particular embassy makes life hard for people (I experienced the mean lady myself when applying for the visa the first time) and I'm a bit concerned that my application for another ED visa may get rejected. Has anyone experienced successfully doing a visa run for that particular visa category in Singapore? Or would you guys suggest that I do my extension in Bangkok beforehand? If so, would it possible to get an extension with multiple entries?

Thank you for all the advice!

Unless the internship is linked to a Thai University course it is unlikely an extension will be available.

I believe that multi- entry ED visas are not available from anywhere in SE Asia.

As said you will not be able to get an extension.

Your only choice is to try to get another single entry non-ed visa.
