Non A O based on retirement expiry date confusion

Featured Replies

Hi all I am a newbi as you can see so treat me with care.

I have a Non A O visa based on retirement, multi entry dated 22June 2014.

First entry to Thailand on the 7 Aug 2014, last entry 30 Mar 2015. Passport stamped entry until 29 Mar 2016.

As my visa expires on the 21 jul 2015 (enter before date) do I need just an entry permit, be it either single or multi to enter and leave Thailand until the 29 Mar 2016.

Then before the 29 Mar 2016 do an extension of stay for another 12 months.

if you do a border run before 22nd June a fresh 1 year permission to stay stamp will be given, after 22nd June a re-entry permit will be required.

apply for a year extension of stay at local immigration during the last month of your permission of stay stamp. get the money in the bank in time to allow for any seasoning that is required.

do I need just an entry permit, be it either single or multi to enter and leave Thailand until the 29 Mar 2016.

Yes (see below).

Then before the 29 Mar 2016 do an extension of stay for another 12 months.

Yes.

multi entry dated 22June 2014.

...

visa expires on the 21 jul 2015

13 months???

That confuses me. Something wrong here.

If the ENTER BEFORE date is indeed 21 Jul 2015 than you would not need a re-entry permit if you re-enter before or on this date.

We have the 28th of June today!

OP - do a border run on 20th July (at the very latest), and your passport will then be stamped with a permission to stay date of 19th July 2016. In that was you won't need to start applying for annual extensions of stay until 19th July 2016 - although, as already stated, should you be planning any foreign trips between 20th July 2015 and 19th July 2016, you will need a re-entry permit to keep the 19th July 2016 permission to stay alive upon your return. You can obtain a re-entry permit at either your local immigration office or at BKK and DMK airports before exiting through Immigration.

I am, of course, assuming that your OA visa is, in fact, dated 22nd July 2014 (and not 22nd June 2014 as you have stated)!

As your Visa has now expired you need a Re Entry Permit if you wish to leave the country.

Yes you need to apply for a 12 month extension before 29th March 2016

...typical...it happened to me twice...it seems any date you follow you will be penalized...maybe that is the point....

...otherwise it really makes no sense...
