It's probably just me but W10 won't connect to any network :(

W10 Insider Preview, latest updates.

All was fine last night, this morning waking from sleep got a BSOD "Critical process stopped", rebooted, now PC won't connect to any network wired or Wifi.

Same machine dual-booted to W8 works fine, so it's not a hardware or external problem.

Anyone else, any ideas, rebooted multiple times.

Restore to yesterday's restore point failed.

I've a few more options to try before re-installing (no backup, only just got everything working, grrr).

Mine too, it reloaded the drivers (it's using the built-in MS drivers) same problem.

I also tried a USB network dongle, loads the drivers and connects to the wifi, but no network connection just like the wired network.

Network troubleshooter says a problem with the drivers. I'm at work now, I'll try a system refresh when I get home.

Decidedly weird.

Oke, other suggestion then, run sfc /scannow or Run Safe Mode and then sfc /scannow

Wilco, that's my next option when I get home. Good idea to run it in Safe Mode (hadn't thought of that).

"...connects to the wifi, but no network connection."

By "network" connections, that's internet? My pea brain stops with gateway for now.

You've checked your default gateway settings... Other network settings...

I am so happy there are people out there who try out new versions of windows, pioneering the way . good on you crossy and keep up the good work

Which build are you on? If the easy fixes don't work I would be inclined to just install a newer build over the top of your existing installation. I had some weird networking issues (hidden adaptors) with 10130 which resolved themselves with a later build.

10158 came to the fast ring yesterday followed by 10159 today. Microsoft is still only offering 10130 as an ISO download but later builds can be had elsewhere.

Just to clarify, I cannot see any network equipment, can't ping the router or connect to my server. The same machine booted into W8 works just fine.

Ping gives a message akin to "transmit failed".

Not sure what build I'm using (I can check later), it was an .iso downloaded on Sunday via the official Insider route so probably 10130.

Thanks for all the suggestions chaps. No joy sad.png

Just re-installing over my restored W8, such is life.

This time I'll make a backup straight away smile.png

EDIT I do still have the faulty image, so if anyone has any better ideas I can boot from it and try it out.

Yup, won't even bother starting, there's something pretty critical amiss sad.png

It's all running on .vhd's so nothing lost just annoying :(

I would go the "sfc /scannow" route, and also have a gander in the event log and look for the red ones.

First thing I tried, both in normal and safe mode.

Found no errors.

Anyway all up and running again, backup created, lesson learned smile.png

Personally I am of the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' lot. No way will I try out W10 until it is ready for general use.

Er..... That's why it's called a "technical preview".

I love it, but as they recommended I haven't installed it on anything critical.

When I read about just how awesome MS says WinX is going to be, I always imagine them making this kind of face:

Trust me, I is a cute, smiling puppy!
