I am staying in Si Sa Ket city next week and need to activate the 2nd entry of a triple entry tourist visa.

What is the quickest/easiest border crossing to do this from Si Sa Ket? I have a hire car so can drive to the border.

Closet crossing to SI Sa Ket is Chong Sa Ngom about 104 km south of you. Seen no reports on anyone doing it there but I would thank it is fissable. The nest closses is the Chong Chom crossing about 140 km from you and 70 km south of Surin. People do it here all the time.

Yes - it's feasible. I've not done it as a visa run myself but been back and forwards through that border many times. There's lots of threads about it. A few pointers:

  • good news is there are unlikely to be any extras asked for by Thai or Cambodia border guards there
  • car park on right had side as you hit the border. Can't recall price - think it was 100 Thb per 24 hours but maybe less if you ask for an hourly rate
  • road south of Highway 24 is under reconstruction so allow an hour for doing what is only about 40km.
  • Pol Pot's grave is only 400 m south of the Cambodia border post - US$, not a great deal to see but worth it if you know the heinous history of the man. Spit on it for me!
  • On the other side of the road from Pol Pots grave and a bit nearer the border is a huge casino. You can go in and look around and I presume you can play the slot machines if you want to. For me it was only worth looking in to appreciate the huge incongruity of the place - a glitzy gambling room full of bussed in Isaan peasants shelling out money they can ill afford in an environment of poor (very poor) dusty border town
  • You probably don't have time but doing a two day trip to Angkor Wat through that border is hugely worthwhile, even though the temples are getting close to ruination by package tourism
  • There is no decent boder marlet or shopping either side of the Choam Sa Ngam border. Go to Chom Jom if you want a large border market with the characteristic Chinese bicycle shops, knock-off football shirts and the day to day sundries

Lots of threads on Thai Visa about the border - search on Google "thaivisa.com choam sa ngam border" or "thaivisa.com siem reap choam sa ngam"

Don't hesitate to ask by PM if you need any specific info
