More South Koreans arrested for running online gambling

BANGKOK: -- A combined police force raided a luxury condominium room on Sukhumvit 26 yesterday and arrested four South Korean people and charged them with running online gambling website.

Bangkok Post reported that the arrest, the fourth time in a month, was a joint effort of the Thai and Korean police to crack down on Koreans operating online gambling overseas for Korean gamblers in South Korea.

Taking part in the raid were police from the Crime Suppression Division, the Tourist Police Division and Thong Lor police station.

Arrested at their rented room on the 12th floor of a condominium in Klong Toey area are Kim Hong-in, Park Jung-gi, Lee Min-kyu, and Son Suck-won.

Eleven mobile phones and four computers were also seized.

Police said evidence sized from the gang indicated it has over one billion baht in circulation in their gambling operation.

The four Koreans entered the country on April 22 and rented the room at the condo for 70,000 baht a month, where they offered illegal online betting on football and poker.

According to police investigation, the four Koreans were found to be connected to a Korean call centre network and also several gambling dens in Philippines and Cambodia.

The police charged them with illegal online gambling and working without work permits.

Kim Hong-in, Park Jung-gi, Lee Min-kyu, and Son Suck-won.

Imaginative names.

"working without work permits" i'm guessing is being used here because (depending where the money is located) they haven't actually broken any laws. Maybe that's why they didn't do a disappearing act after the other 3 raids ?
