Universities to continue dealing with SCB
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Rajabhat University Presidents Council of Thailand and Rajamangala universities yesterday decided not to boycott Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), which recently caused an uproar by advertising that only graduates from certain universities would be considered for jobs.

The resolution came out after the executives of the Rajabhat and Rajamangala universities attended a meeting at the Phranakhon Rajabhat University in Chanthaburi province yesterday.

Dr Niwat Klinngam, who chairs the Rajabhat University President Council of Thailand, revealed after the meeting that the universities would continue having financial dealings with SCB. It was also resolved at the meeting that universities should take into account human-resource development in order to cope with the labour market.

Dr Niwat pointed out that the educational standards at both universities had been approved by the Office of the Higher Education Commission and the Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment.

Meanwhile, SCB president Yol Phokasub said the bank had no policy of selective recruitment, blaming the faulty advertisement on the system. He said the ad was removed immediately, and denied rumours on the Net about SCB being discriminatory.

The president insisted that the jobs were open to all graduates, pointing out that his bank had accepted 4,348 graduates, of whom 30 per cent were from Rajabhat and Rajamangala Universities.

SCB has no selective recruitment, all can APPLY!

30% employees from Rajabat, and, the other 70% from.................?

Lets state the truth! We all know certain university have higher standards and in a tight job market for upwardly promotional job positions you hire the best trained candidates, unless your stupid. Sure you hire Rajabat graduates for menial or clerical staff but not for positions that intend to stepping stones to managerial positions. Yes the Rajabhat University meets the minimum government requirements but sadly that is the best one can hope to get. Same if one goes to like many local community colleges in the States they do not on average put out as well trained graduates as Yale, Harvard, or Rice. Sorry is just a fact GIGO.

Various other universities?

The universities probably worked out how much time and effort it would cost them to change banks, also probably totted up the rental fees they were getting from SCB for ATM placement!

Let's not forget it's some of these university Presidents that want the university holiday time table changed back to the original Thai one as it's costing to much for the electric bills due to using more air-conditioning.. Jeeze who knew before they changed.... Everyone with a brain!

Wait, the university wanted to NOT trust with their money a bank that hired the best graduates from the best institutions, but would rather place their money with a bank that hired mediocre people? That right there should be enough for the bank to rest its case.
