Khlong Saen Saep

I'm returning to BKK shortly and would like to explore Khlong Saen Saep (among other venues). My question is where would be a good area to rent a place so I can get to either end of the route (Phanfa Leelard, Wat Sriboon-reung) or the interchange (Pratunam Pier)

Not sure why you want to explore the canal but phanfa leelard stop is not too far from Khao San Road, walk up the major road (ratchdamnoern?), past monument and then at the junction go right and there's a 7/11 and next to that.
