We urgently needed to put our 6 year old onto the blue housebook so that we can use it to re-new her Thai passport

when we tried at Sattahip district office the chap was very rude and ignorant to my wife and sis-in-law

he told us that it would be done that day, then changed his mind (when he saw me) and said that we need to find the Bang Saray villiage leader and bring him to verify / witness the paperwork. He then said it would take 3 WEEKS to process, we have a holiday to Japan in 20 days time!!

My daughter has never been entered onto a blue book at any time as we have just arrived from the UK but she already has a Thai passport which expires in November. Therefore she is not a `registered person ` in Thailand and doesnt yet have a number which enables her to apply for a new passport.

we found the village elder and he is going with my wife at 1pm today, so fingers crossed he can have a word

Does anybody know of the timescale for getting a child entered onto a blue book? We feel like he is just making hard work for us just because he can.

We need it done by the end of next week or our trip will be ruined causing huge loss of money etc (its my visa run too)

nightmare! HELP pleasewai2.gif

If your child already has a Thai passport you don't need the house book. I recently renewed my sons passport with his old passport, birth cert original and my wifes passport, photos etc....contact the Thai passport office in Bang Na for more info...

Hi Claffey (sotonfarang: apology to go off topic),

mother didn't actually have to go along with you? signed copy of her ID was ok?

and would a signed copy of ID also suffice to put a child into the blue book in absence of the mother?

was your son born in Thailand though?

if so, he would have been given a number at birth

my daughter was born in uk and we also got her 1st passport from the uk

The guy could do it the same day if he wanted........ as you wait, take 10 minutes.... You have been unlucky to meet one of those 'Porpers on horseback', there are a lot holding official positions in Thailand.

Best of luck.

Took 2 days for me to be entered into the blue book many years ago. One day to take the paperwork and we needed two witnesses as well as the house owner.

I needed my overseas issued thai birth cerificate, thai passport showing the entry date into thailand and details of my parents names etc.

Might be longer in the boonies if they don't know the process of the head guy who axtually signs off on these things only turns up sporadically, but three weeks is stretching it.

In terms of travel if she has a Brit passport why not use that to enter Japan? The Thai one only needed for exiting and re-entering Thailand.

Put the paperwork in now for the blue book however, but as said, no rush if the Brit passport can be used for Japan.

Born in Thai....

do you have a british passport for your daughter.just travel on that?????

Thailand is still less stressful than the nanny states back home...In fairness you should have sorted her passport before this!

If you child was born in Thailand, they'd be on the housebook.

yes it is my fault as i re-newed everything from all of our British passports to our uk driving licenses but somehow overlooked their thai passports.

airasia are still saying they need 6 months validity on their thai passports to fly even though they both have british ones too.

if they try to fly out on their british ones immigration will want to know why they dont have entry into thailand stamps on them.

my wife is now on the housebook so her passport re-newel wont be an issue, just waiting on little one to be added.

if its not back in time then we will just try to use her british passport at check-in, thai passport at immigration, enter and leave japan on our british ones, then mrs and little one re-enter thailand on their thai ones.

job done, i hopw.

yes i will do at the avenue in pattaya, which takes 4 or so days, just wondered if they could do while you wait in bkk

thanks for your help chapswai2.gif

just thinking, if she does the above, will their boarding cards then not match her passport at immigration?

if checking in on british then passing immigration with thai

British passports at check in.

Thai passport at immigration.

If the child is over 7 they can use the electronic gates and no one checks anything.

Even if not, they'll be fine going via an IO. You are stressing too much.

Just make sure you ask for a departure from to fill in for the Thai passport.
