glasswort
Why are people so gullible when it comes to deposits and property here in Thailand? I used to work at a bank, know all the top people and can obtain loans for you. If anyone believes a line like this then they deserve to get scammed. How long would it take for anyone to verify before handing over one satang that the money would at least be held in a trust account.? If not bye bye. I simply don't understand the naivete of people particularly based on all the past examples.

In many countries in the " West "you would be dealing with estate agents who have some form of government issued license to practice and are compelled to deposit such money in a trust account as part of keeping that license. That is why giving money to anyone in an unregulated market is indeed foolish.

So the moral of your story should be if any real estate developer is not working in accordance with the Thai Escrow Act (which was introduced specifically to protect buyers of " off the plan " condos in Thailand) then simply don't deal with them http://thailand-realestate.com/blog/the-escrow-act-b-e-2551/

And that was not their first project. Previously they had successfully completed 2 other projects in Bangkok: Anantara Ratchaprasong Serviced Suites Bangkok Baan Navatara Condominium in Bangkok Edited July 10, 2015 by Barin

If you google around about people who have been conned in Thailands property market you would be flabbergasted and most have lost a lot more than you,and lets just say that a lot of Thailand centric fora and websites who have so called property companys advertising with them will keep sthumm about the subject because of fear of legal prosecution or they are in on it themselves. I can understand that people would like a piece of property in paradise but as said before buyer beware in an unregulated market........to many cowboys and shysters. Yes, we applied to the Court in Pattaya in August, 2013. There is a silence since then... Did you applied to the court for a civil case ? or did you filed a police complaint for a criminal investigation ???? You have to accuse someone for committing a crime, in this case someone stole your money or did commit fraud to obtain your money, not complaining that someone is not delivering what you payed for... Asiantravel
Escrow is for the big players not developers as they use your money to start I dont know of any developers that use Escrow - none so if they dont offer it you can use it exactly! which is a sign of the developer being undercapitalised and therefore you shouldn't touch them with a barge pole
