So I went to immigration to renew my visa in Krabi. I wanted to go to Big C from the immigration office (7km). I do everything upfront so when a motorbike taxi talked to me and said 200 baht - I said 100 (it was about 7km). He said no only 150. I declined & said I would figure something else out. I walked away, sat down and started pulling up a few things on my phone. So he sent his friend.

His friend was friendly & confirmed 100 baht, asked where I was from and drove me thru pouring rain. I was going to give him 200 but realized to my horror I just 1000s since immigration took all my 100s (why didn't I pay with 2000 instead of 1900????)
So some friendly driver who was happy to rip off farang only double and not act like I raped his daughter when I walked away from 150 got a massive jackpot rider today.

That is correct. Maybe I should've been more pointed in my post.

Having a horrific attitude after attempting to rip me off by charging 4x a local price (instead of just 2x) has really been getting to me after just being here 3 months. It's less about the money and more about the entitled attitude.

The friendly attitude at doing something for just 2x what a local would pay made me decide to pay an exorbitant amount just because I could. & someone was friendly. I'm interested to see how other countries are - I will be leaving soon. But land of smiles here seems a bit of a misplaced title.

Not at all.......The Thai's smile "all the way to the bank" when they take a farang like you.

You were ripped off because you have tourist stamped on your forehead. If you haggle in Thai you get the Thai price. If you live here, speak some Thai and have common sense you rarely get ripped off. Actually you weren't even ripped off.All you had to do was drive to a 7/11 and change your money there..
