GLO beefs up price regulation scheme following reports of overpriced lottery

BANGKOK, 12 July 2015 (NNT) - The Government Lottery Office (GLO) has beefed up its survey of lottery retailers after reports of overpriced ticket sales.

GLO Board Spokesperson Thanawat Polwichai disclosed that authorities had intensified their price regulation scheme as a growing number of buyers complained that some outlets offered their lottery tickets for 85-90 baht a pair, instead of 80 baht as stipulated by the GLO.

The GLO spokesperson said any distributor found to overcharge their customers would face a jail term and a hefty fine and will risk losing their sales quota.

Mr. Thanawat added that the GLO would this month call a meeting with related agencies, including charity organisations, provincial governors and distributors to conclude on a new lottery sales quota in response to the rising demand from sellers.

Did anybody ever think that the lottery sellers were going to

abide by the law and sell the tickets at the proper price of 80 Thb.

It seems unfair that 'lucky numbers' and 'sure win' tickets cannot be sold at a premium!

(Tongue in cheek remark)

16 months of dedicated work by the junta seems to be going down the drain.

It will get stuck in the drain - no water to wash it away!☺

At my local Lotus yesterday all the lottery sellers had ' 80 ' displayed on their sales trays but I have no idea if this is genuine or simply for show.
