Hi Thai Visa people,

I have been working in Thailand for the last 4 years and am married to a Thai lady. It looks as if I will be finishing my employment next month. I require a Non-O visa based on Marriage. I understand that I will have to leave Thailand and apply for this visa in a place such as Savanakhet (Which is close and easy) and then i will need to apply for an extension based on marriage once i return to Bangkok in the last 30 days of the 90 day visa. I have 400K in the bank so this is part is no problem.

Is this correct? Does anyone know what documents i will require or can provide a link to a page with the details for this two step process?

Thanks in advance for your advice and assistance.

A rough guide once you have obtained your Non Imm O Visa from Laos.

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM)

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Letter from your Thai Bank showing balance and up to date bank book.

OR.

If income from outside Thailand: Letter from your Embassy showing income. Now may also need proof of income as back up.

If Income from Thailand: Statements showing Income Tax receipts.

Marriage Certificate. (Kor Ror 3)

Marriage Registry entry. (Kor Ror 2)

Wife's Tabbien Baan and ID Card.

Your Passport.

Copies of everything.

Photos of you and your Wife in and around the house.

A map showing the way to your house.

Passport size photos and 1,900 Baht fee.

Take your Wife to be interviewed.

One or two witnesses may be required.

You will be given a 30 day under consideration stamp.

Go back in a month and get the remainder.

You can get a single entry non-o visa in Vientiane or Savannakhet. You will need your marriage certificate plus a copy, singed and dated copies your wife's house book registry and ID card. The fee will be 2000 baht.

The 400k baht will need to in a bank account in your name only for 60 days to apply for the extension. You will need a letter from the bank confirming the balance and a copy of your bank updated on the date you apply (Bangkok requirement).

You will need your marriage certificate plus a copy and a updated Kor Ror 2 marriage registry from an Amphoe.

Copies of you wife's house book and ID card.

A map to your house from the nearest main road or street.

Photos of you and your wife in and around the house. One must show you both with the house number visible

Copies of your passport pages and TM6 departure card.

You will need proof residence unless you living where your wife's house book is for.

If you have the 400k in the bank to last the year. Do you have to show them you have used the money or can you just keep it in the bank for the the following year?

You keep the same 400k baht in the bank for the entire year. Some offices though may ask to see proof of some funds activity in an another account.

Just a question on this topic. For a single entry 90 day non-o visa based on marriage I don't need to provide financials? I don't plan on extending though. I will be heading back to my own country next few months. How often can I apply for this type of visa?

You can easily get a couple of the them from a nearby embassy or consulate. But the cost for getting 2 at 2000 baht each plus travel expense makes it more practical to get a multiple entry non-o visa in Savannakhet that costs 5000 baht.

No financial proof is needed for the single or multiple entry visa.

You can also get a 60 day extension to visit your wife at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht for any type of entry.

I actually stay near Vientiane ( about 1 hour drive) although I am only recently married and never tried for a non o visa. It's really close and easy for me to go there. Sorry I should have mentioned that. Would they require financials for the 90 day?
