Decent TV Options in Thailand?

If your dish is big enough (2.3 Meters I think?), you should be able to pick up the BBC and the Australia network for free, and many other channels, with a decent HD satellite box. + its fun to look for new satellites.

I forgot to mention about adding a motor to the dish, which can turn on its own if you program your box correctly.

There is no Australia Network on satellite in Thailand for free any more after the current Australian government turned it off last year. If you want it (now called Australia Plus) you have to subscribe to the true cable (not satellite) TV in Bangkok only,

You can buy a lot of thumb drives for 1500 baht a month - in my opinion cable TV has seen its day - but agree it will always fit the needs of some. I am not unaware of such service as had cable TV here when it first started (delivered by UHF antennas from several firms before what is now called True started to install actual cable and later DTH Sat. And agree it is much better value now then before (where you paid about the same for a handful of stations). But most Thai would likely prefer alternatives at lower price (which I suspect is why they offer free service now). GMM/PSI are lower cost alternatives if pay stations are wanted and if they are not needed offer several hundred stations free using C-band (with no rain fade). Sublimate with U-tube or torrents and I am happy. I no longer need the foolish adrenaline jockeys of the "News" channels to live my life. This is no longer a world in need of access but a world with so much access it needs priorities. The nights of looking at 'snow' on b/w TV screens as something to do are long past - we have more data than we can ever adsorb in our limited lifetime. So 'up to you' seems very fitting.

Yep for 1500b you can easily buy 10 thumb drives per month but considering they will be void of any media content Iam not sure why one would even mention it. That 1500b (in this instance) is better spent on the cable TV I reckon.

PSI and GMM are different box/providers so be sure you are getting what you want for programs you want. They will both use the same Thaicom 5/6 satellite so you can always change later, or mix, if you want and use same antenna and cable. Do not know what price range would be there so can not make that call - but you can find costs of items on internet and figure out any bargaining range from that. If they will take care of any issues may be worth paying a bit more than would seem normal markup - the main thing is they install the antenna without obstructions cutting your signal and take care to be neat running cable.

Even with slower internet if streaming doesn't work you could still be downloading and watching later.

I agree with the Kodi and TVaddons, it's great and easy to use for the not so tech savvy family members. You can run it on a small HTPC box wit android or linux, don't use a full blown PC as you don't need it and it uses much more energy.

no he cant he is on a 3g dongle with limited bandwith.

and tv addons is hit and miss.

Stalker works great and he hasn't said what his bandwidth is.

not sure how hard it is to understand he is limited to a set number of gig per month on 3g. it is very easy to blow through 3 or 4 gig streaming even sd.

You can find all kind of information on various sites - unfortunately that does not make it true. The above link appears to be the current station list - it has changed over time so at some point it may have included that station (believe I have seen complaints of it being removed from several systems within the last year or so).

your right L3 up untill last yr.i used to get euro sport on kctv but no more, yet the last flyer from them still showed it.but when you read the small print,

programs can change without NOTICE.if its part of sport topping that will do me,rugby league, french rugby, athletics, including the diamond meetings so there's plenty on in the morning thai time for 149bht.per month add on.

You have not contradicted what I said.

I get 12Gb on AIS every time I go toThailand for Bt799.

I daresay you can do better than that postpaid.

Good luck with any phone center - we had total meltdown trying to get simple activation with CTH for PSI pre bought plans - and this was with professional hotel concierge doing the speaking in Thai. Unless it is exactly what they know many will not have a clue how to answer.

Was that from asking for English or just the initial call for a Thai speaker? If English line probably nobody dared answer. Although there have been reports of them taking over some CTH service so it may be more than an mess than normal if all CTH customers are having to contact them also.

For some reason recall we changed to landline phone to make contact with CTH number at least one time - do cell phones hang up after a set time on hold perhaps?

sorry L3i should have said the calls were made from our land line.

how does buying the packages you want? we have a 7-11 near us,the wife has got to go to tesco's today so she will ask there.

We only have had the Gold package on yearly basis several times and it came with the box - believe we still had to make a call to activate but was not a problem. As said there seems to be a lot of movement now and many with CTH are having to find alternatives from reports so that might make for busy phone desk, and holiday might have made that worse.

searching around it seems that gmmz are no longer able to cover eurosport since march of this yr.and it is no longer avaiable in thailand.

so now i have to find out what is covered by euro-football available through sport topping[or has that been dropped] because knowing thailand they wont tell you till you have paid for it.

What football are you looking for on GMMz as far as I know they now have the EPL since CTH partnered with them, dropping Championship coverage,I believe they have Japan J League as you say it's very sketchy trying to find the info online.

Naturally they have some Thai premier league games as well.

French League 1 is on beIN channel on True.
